I graduated from University last year with a Computer Science degree and worked part time during university and up until December in a small computer repair/sales store. Now working as an IT Tech, as alot of people here will know Computer science covers very little relevant to this role and while some of the computer repair stuff is useful most of it is new to me but before getting the role I began studying and have taken the first half of Comp TIA A+, im yet to take the 2nd half as I was sidetracked by the newer area that is the N+. There is also a fair bit of material at my new job from worcester based traning NEOS the previous tech went on covering a few microsoft certifications ive been reading. As also previously mentioned I agree you cant beat experience, one of the regretful things of university was the lack of any real workplace experience and nothing on networking edu geeks has provided me with huge amounts of information tho so thanks everyone!

there is some tutorials out there and good software which lets you to simply key bind movements so left arm 90degrees to the side == F etc... Both feet of ground by 1inch == x 5inch ==z . Really easy to use ill post the tutorail link up when im at home, basically install a framework for it and some drivers.

Aparntly one of the recent updates changed the main focus point of your body to the head rather then your hips so it would work better when sitting down, most of the tracking is down to developers and no fault of the hardware. Some games like the fighters uncaged arn't great at mapping your body and reconising its moves, others such as mainly the fitness games track several times more points on your body then others and are much more accurate. The biggest loser game actualy has floor exercises such as sit ups, push upts and even a sitting down facing the tv meditation post. For those having issues with room mount the kinect on top of your tv and youll knock a food or so off if its mounted at a decent height as the cam will pretty much get you in the top of its lense and see the floor at a much shorter distance, if your really stuck for space mount it up and behind the tv on the wall so it can see over the tv just right, use the kinect tuner screen when moving it to see where is perfect and use the card to calibrate the cam for better accuracy (you only need do this once and there are offical wall brackets) or make your own, im using blue-tack on top of my tv for mine and its stayed put for the past 4weeks fine.

Microsoft have said they wont rule out games which also use the controler and games which use new controlers such as a nunchuck style device you can easily hold to move around and the other movements with your body. Infact steel battalion is already confirmed for later this year release using a series of their controller systems (as all steel battalion games have) and the kinect letting people look around and use controllers like they would in a real cockpit. I also have a kinect (brought it for £120 in amazon sales, same deal around £160 in game and gamestation now) and ive brought a number of games including kinect sports (so much better then the wii, try out vollyball which you do actually spike the ball by jumping and hitting down and running around the court rather then standing still waving your arm. Your shape (fitness game) is pretty good too, burned around 3,000 cals on it in the last week doing personal trainer workouts and cardio boxing (they will have you sweating!) Oh and yesterday I purchased dance central made by the makers of rock band so they know how to make a rythem based game, its very very accurate and required you to get the moves perfect, im less then 6foot away from the screen and its pretty much fine and take 1-2foot back for easily enough at 2players on kinect sports. I highly recommend them to anyone considering them! Oh and the drivers+key mapping software is fun, had a blast of minecraft using it having to swing my arm to use the pickaxe, they will soon be releasing the mouse binding to movements too.

Well the software seems to of deployed out fine, typically staff moaning "why is it taking so long to boot this morning"..im sure aroud 1-2min extra is hardly an issue Still some issues with the network license not being picked up, it was activated during the admin install fine also the "network license viewer" tool supplyed by autograph will not run due to a C++ runtime error an issue more related to their software I would expect? Anyway having phoned their technical support line im answered by an answering machine message "sorry but autograph technical support is currently on leave please contact us via email" Edit: Ive managed to get in touch with Chartwell Yorke who wil be investigating the issue. Edit No2 Ok we have got to the bottom of the problem, and its occured in a few other schools too. Autograph 3.3.msi has a bug which when using an already existing license will appear to work fine on the server but any policy deployed workstations will have a local path set to find the license, if you created a new license on the admin install this does not occur (so its often not an issue). So ive edited the .msi using orca to dropt this bug with thanks from autograph support, the issue still remains of all computer which have had this software deployed to them (around 350) require a the softwares registry path to be changed and I dont plan to manualy do this around the whole school. Would anyone here be able to assist in a registry edit script I can deploy to all computers?

Well I ran /force and /boot before heading off home after work, before I left I checked using rsop on about 4 computers at random locations in the school and all showed auatograph3.3 im the software policy area Will check it over in the morning, but I gather its ok now thanks for the help.

Thanks for that (never knew about RSOP before now) it appears when a local machine is queryed there is no mention of the software under computer configurations. Not quite sure as the GPO is linked to the workstation group and enforced. However under the "removed" tab on Rsop software installs the software is listed (however I have not removed it!)

Hello, im pretty new here and thought i'd start with a problem thats bugging me! I've recently began my first role in IT in a small school replacing a recently left ICT Technician. Before he left supposadly this software package (Autograph 3.3) had been completly setup according to the jobs log, however the software has been imaged out and installed locally on all the schools machines and displays as unlicensed. So the other day I decided to do a proper network install using the software developers supplied .msi, all went well, site license is in a shared area on the server along with the admin install. This is the first time msi and GPO has been used in this school for software distribution, everything before now has been imaged out over holiday periods. So a new policy object has been created for a computer software install using autograph3.3.msi and applied to our workstation group. Everything seems in place fine, yet nothing is happening, the software install is set to apply but there doesn't appear to be anything happening on boot for any workstation machines. Appologise for the long post but this is pretty new to me and im rather puzzled Any help is appreciated.
