Hmm I'd have expected a firmware upgrade to do a factory reset in the process. Are you using the main Emley or a relay transmitter? (The answer to "Do you get analogue Channel 5" is usually the same in this area!) If it's a relay, do you know which one?

In the Sheffield area you're quite likely to find the Belmont transmitter which provides the Hull version of Look North (with Peter Levy) on LCN 1 as it has lower frequencies so the tuner finds it first. I've heard that pulling the aerial lead out while it searches until it gets to about CH30 helps!

Only BBC2 has ceased on analogue if you're using Emley Moor, which I assume you are as Sheffield and Belmont, the other two likely options have both completed the second stage of DSO and are fully digital. Analogue BBC1, C4, and C5 are all exactly as they were, and ITV has moved to BBC2's old frequency. Can you clarify - is this lack of BBC1 and BBC2 analogue or digital?

Pull two lots of cable to a double wallplate in each location. That way you've done the tedious part if you ever want to upgrade the system to Sky+

You're comparing apples with oranges. The phone thing is a clear safety issue, putting a mobile van out to catch people who speed up slightly too early is a money making exercise.

Because they're putting a van there to catch people doing something which is a very common driving technique and which is in most cases quite safe - the characteristics of the road a few hundred feet before an NSL sign are usually identical to the conditions after the sign, the sign is where it is for that reason because they know people will put their foot down a little earlier than they technically should. It's a cynical ploy to catch people doing something which is technically wrong, but almost universally done. If they want to convince people that speed cameras are really safety cameras they ought to be using them in areas where excessive speed is a safety problem, not for petty technical infringements like this.

Nobody is saying they are the same thing. They are saying that they are both unacceptable (but to different degrees). But those who have fraudulently claimed expenses to which they were not entitled have no place commenting upon the morality of others.

No, it matters considerably. @Gibbo suggested that the post was "ignorant - particularly as you didn't know his dad was dead", which appears not to be the case, and the author was attempting to make a subtle point. How successful that attempt was is a matter of opinion.

Had you clicked the link to the source (where you would have realised it wasn't @mattx who wrote that) you'd have seen that the very first comment there makes that same point about his father, and the author responded:

I've tried a Live CD and everything works as expected. @jinnantonnixx - pass - I suspect it's reasonably up to date but as I can't get it online I can't easily find out what updates Windows Update has waiting for it!

Nothing in the cache as reported by nbtstat, and no joy with those local policies. It's all addresses, not just the addresses of servers on the network here - the machine can't resolve google. I've checked nslookup is pointing at the same DNS servers that everything else is and it still manages to resolve names. I think a LiveCD might be a good next port of call
