  1. Thanks all - plenty to get me thinking here...
  2. So go Dell then??
  3. Hi all, We are moving from standard servers to rack mount due to space conciderations. Unfortunately I have never used them and know nothing about them. Is there anything I need to bear in mind - anything specific to watch out for - any specific suppliers to avoid... Is it best to go for some built in power distribution. We will of course be using our UPS which is huge depth wise - so Ill be needing a deep cab.. Dell's racks look horribly expensive and I'm not even sure that I nderstand all the options on the page. We will probably be getting Dell rack mounted servers and by the end of the update process we will end up with perhaps 12 servers. Comms gear will be mounted elsewhere... Any help - greatly appreciated

  6. I'd check IDN as well. I use them for a lot of stuff including proj installs and equipment. Always get great support and they are very friendly!!
  7. I have been using the CDB file in the shortcut for ages and have never had any problems.. All it does is to call the program and load the CDB file. All my cdb files are local in teh c:\admin directory.. I really dont see how this could cause any problems
  8. Afternoon all, Has anyone got one of Hitachi’s CP-A100/ED-A100/ED-A110 Ultra Short Throw projectors installed anywhere. We are looking to install some projectors in a new building and we need to make the projector installs as neat as possible. I have plenty of experience with the standard sanyo cieling mount models but I would just like some informed opinon on what these are like to install/use on a daily basis.. Thanks Nick
  9. Even though I do auto SQL backups - I still generally do a CMIS backup once a week or before any updates/year end etc. It's quicker to be able to restore one data set etc when you screw year end up again!!. I asked Serco for auto CMIS backups over two years ago - I guess it went the same way as the new reporting system.
  10. I havent done it myself but I have talked to someone who did and I have looked at it but not done it yet.. Basically you need to set the CMISController database connector to point to the new CMIS SQL databaseon your VMWare server. Go to the old server and start the Facility Controller Click Server settings Click the Server Settings tab Click on Connection and select an existing (or create a new ODBC) connection to the new server.. You will need to remember to change paths in the ePortal config file to point at new student photo directories etc... Let me know how you get on The Serco Learning Web Site does have some stuff on this I think..
  11. Cheers Indie - nothing against Apple but we are pretty much PC based here! Ill take a look anyway.
