so... so basic English.... Set up 2 x DC2012 R2 and make them a DC. Setup DHCP and DNS roles and make sure there are fine. (Make sure they are on our VLAN2 (Infrastructure vlan) On one of the new servers set up DHCP with all scopes (turn off old scopes on the 2008r2 then the new ones are set up) Sort out IP Helpers on switch. (this is where im going to get confused) Move FSMO roles over to the new 2012R2 (both) Check DNS and DHCP are running correct. Start killing the old 2008r2 servers (demote and remove all services?) Setup DHCP failover between the 2 new 2012r2 servers? (might have to do abit of research on this) ---------------- I think i will use an phyical server and a vm on a another server? or am i better off using 2 VM on different hosts?

From installing from statch? or just letting restart from where it crashed? I would start fresh and see where that will take you.

cant you disable it in the bios and enable it once it finishes installing?

During the summer we are looking at upgrading our DC's to 2012R2. We had outside help from another company when we moved to 2008r2 who help us with VLANs and VMWare (@mrbios will tell you how great the help was....) Our current setup has a DC on each vlan. (also does DNS/DHCP) (so 8 Vlans with a server on each) What would be the best setup on setting up the upgrade? Can i create a new PDC server on 2012r2 with 2/3 servers with mutilate NICs doing each vlan? (when promote the new and de-promote the old ones (first time me doing this so please bear with me)) PS we will be looking at moving to Hyper-V instead of VMware we only have 4.1 unless it a free upgrade to latest version. (we have paid for vmware i believe and not running the free version) Hope you can understand this....

Just wondering if I can install or repair over the top and not lose any programmes installed. It's the only computer that we got working with the phone software. Our phone company want to charge us for help with our system.

as above really. Got an old XP computer that monitors our phone system. As soon as i started it wanted to active windows but i cant do anything due to needed to enter network settings in windows for it to talk to the internet. Is there a way round this?

Speak to @ictdirect. I think you struggle to find home kit cheap that will run 8vms (3gb ram for each vm.). Most have motherboard or cpu limit of 16gb or 32gb.)

Any idea on how to reflash the bios for this laptop?

I hope someone can help me here.... I'm trying to get this to work on a 64bit windows 10 AIO. (don't ask I didnt buy it) I got Heritage Cirqua and Biostore installed. I'm trying to get the finger print scanner working. I can get it to install the driver but biostore wont see the scanner even though its showing in the device manager as installed. I'm guessing its something to with this "Digital Persona" I know when i set the Windows 7 (32bit) i had to install this to get the scanner working. I try and get it working with the 64bit computer but it wont install. I get an error saying it doesn't work on 64bit. Looked on the internet and and found a lastest one but still no luck.... Any idea?

Just been handed a laptop to look at and the caps lock led flashes 2 times and wont power up. (screen doesn't light up as well.) Anyone have any ideas?

Hi all I know how to create virtual machines on Hyper-V But i want to convert a physical DC that is running Server 2012 (non R2) and turn it in to a virtual machine. Is there a best practise to do this as its a DC or am i better rebuilding a virtual machine and transferring roles over so i can kill the physical box?
