Just seen the question here so I'll add how I did this as well. I loaded the Default User profile in Regedit using Load Hive and selecting the NTUSER.DAT from c:\Users\Default. You'll need to have the option to 'Hide protected operating system files' unchecked to see the file. Once the hive is loaded, got to HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run and delete the OneDriveSetup entry that is in there. Unload the NTUSER.DAT and it should prevent and new users profiles from trying to run that on login.

This is a problem we've noticed with moving storage to the cloud. In the 'old' days we controlled what went into students home folders. Now they can upload pretty much anything they like into their GAFE google drive and theres nothing we can do about it! For example, they can upload pornographic images to their drive, and then download them to their homefolder. As you say, short of being caught in the act theres nothing you can do. This is the new world of cloud storage and reduced visiblity.

Well if anyone else is having a similar problem with an HP laptop then the simple answer is: give up. Neither HP nor Microsoft support bluetooth drivers on a 2 year old laptop under Windows 10. It reminds me of my early days of experimenting with linux. Back to Windows 7 then!

I made the mistake of upgrading a Windows 8.1 laptop that was working fine with Bluetooth to Windows 10. Now bluetooth has disappeared completely - not in the device manager or anywhere to be seen! I can't update drivers etc as theres nothing to update. It all worked fine in 8, so I know the adaptor is there (its an HP laptop) - searching around simply shows lots of people with the same problem as me. I know Windows 10 is still a mess but I thought the basics like this were getting sorted. Is there a way to find a device that isn't showing in the device manager in 10?

Due to a few wobbles with the way our vle updates the GAFE accounts side of things we have a few account active in GAFE that we need to suspend. All begin with the same prefix (i.e 2005- etc) but the only way I can find to suspend those is invidually Does anyone know of a way to block select and suspend a bunch of user accounts in GAFE through the admin console?

I managed to get a copy of Cyberlink Youcam 7 Essentials, which is free (after a 30 day full trial) and its only around £20 so might stick with that. Works well, offers all we need and lets you change the save path as well.

I tried Weeney and it bombs out with Chinese error messages, couldn't get the Free2x one to run as anything other than an admin! Its a shame the built in camera app is a Windows 'app' rather than an actual application that might work properly. Even when it works its pants. I've only ever seen Cyberlink YouCam work properly but the free version isn't downloadable anymore - time to spend!

Has anyone managed to use a third party camera program on Surface Pro 3 (Windows 8)? I've had it with the POS built in camera app crashing/uninstalling itself etc and I'm sure a proper application would record video better - MS don't let you use the LifeCam suite and only offer the built in app. All we need to do is record video footage from the main camera, nothing too fancy.

That's what I done so far, I've tried the server name on its own, or FQDN, and also with the file:// prefix but its the same problem every time 'Do you want to allow this website....' It seems to work for admins, which implies it is a group policy setting that isn't working.

One step forward with Windows 10, and 10 steps back... We have a load of shortcuts point to local servers in the format of file://server/path/folder or using a drive letter such as y:/server/path/page.html. In IE11 on Windows 10 neither of these seem to work anymore. Using the file:// method results in a long delay before you get the message 'Do you want to allow this website to open an app on your computer' (the app being Explorer) and the drive letter method results in an error 'Accessing the resource has been disallowed' Use of these intranet/local server paths is pretty important for us - but is there a way to fix this as I can't see anything wrong with our group policies (the servers are marked as Intranet in the Sites to Zones list)

Got the little blighter! It was OneDriveSetup.exe which somehow had crept into the Default User local profile. Pulled that out of the ntuser.dat file and its gone now!

One our test build of 10, non admin users are seeing that the %userprofile%\AppData\Local\Microsoft\OneDrive\FileSyncConfig.exe is being blocked by Applocker (which is correct!) However we have OneDrive disabled in Group Policy, and this executable seems to run under the users profile, but I can't find where its going from! I want OneDrive disabled and this seems to be running for every user. An admin doesn't notice it purely because the AppLocker policy is less restrictive. Does anyone know where this is coming from, its a bit annoying seeing an Applocker error every time a user logs in!

I'm having a play with this and so far its looking good - the only issue so far is that Games and Default Programs are still showing, yet I have a GPP to not show these. Odd It is working with our redirected Start Menu though, and that makes it potentially ready for deployment!

Problem is, we block powershell with Applocker, which stops the powershell script from running under a users account at login! Argh, this shouldn't be such a carry on!

So it looks like the GPO option is at fault - although it seems to partially work. I might try the powershell script on login to see if that works any better.

Interesting -we don't use roaming profiles either, completely vanilla setup. I've created the xml file umpteen times on various installations of 10 (Education/Enterprise) and deployed it to a share and configured it via the GPO Yet I get some but not all of the tiles, and not reliably either. It does seem to be common enough though! What sort of things are you putting on your start menu tiles, just to see if I'm doing anything similar?

The was they have set it up is odd but I could work with that, if it actually worked. I've been testing this on and off since July last year and its never worked properly yet. Even pinning a local app (notepad for example) will not work, but the Office apps will. I gave up with this start menu as a bad job, I'm not keen on having to use a third party app to maintain a core part of an OS. MS are like Apple now - if you don't like it, then tough.
