Its doesn't recognise any key press on boot now. Looks like a terminal failure. Off to the scrapyard with this one!

I'll see if I can swap out the drive and then boot from usb again. I wouldn't have thought a duff drive would affect the keyboard being responsive thought? Although you never know. I've got Sierra on a usb drive to try next!

I was trying to bootcamp a 2011 imac with W7 and OSX 10, but since the initial install all I get on boot is a white screen. No keyboard combinations are recognised (numlock shows no activity) and eventually if you wait long enough the 'No boot device' message appears which is the Windows message for a knackered installation. I did have OSX 10 already on here, but now it seems to be unbootable with any options as the keyboard isn't working. I've tried 3 know working keyboards and nothing. I'm about to write this off as a dead unit unless anyone has any suggestions? I wish apple used a proper bios so you could at least see some life in it!

Well it hasn't really fixed my problem, I set a GPO to specify our proxy for winhttp (and exclude local addresses) and its only brought a handful online as far as wsus is concerned. I guess I'd be better leaving it for a for days to see if any more pick up.

Any of you using Media player as the default player in 10? We want to set it as the default as groove is pap. We use VLC as well but our staff want media player as the default for mp3s etc. You used to be able to do this with GPOs but that stopped at MP9 I think?

I would say I've got a 50/50 split of ones working and not working. They were all working a couple of weeks ago. I've had to configure a handful of ipads with configurator just to get the damn things out there!

Right, this is getting weirder! Normally our winhttp proxy is set to None, as the clients should hit wsus. But for the sake of it I set one machine to import IE settings (which uses the proxy for all but local addresses) and left it running. Now that machine has connected to WSUS, pulled down a load of updates and seems correct! And looking at the proxy logs it did use the proxy for some microsoft sites (they looked like certificate revocation lists) So I'll try another couple and see if they do the same - it seems that even if winhttp is set to ignore the proxy it still needs to get out for some things?

I've checked a few of these but they appear to be clean images. The only thing I did notice is the latest version of Sophos has something called the protection service running, which hits the firewall every few seconds - obviously trying to bypass the proxy. I've disabled that service and theres now no firewall access at all from the test PC. The two errors now seem to be the 'timeout' or 'max server round trip exceeded' types, which suggests a connectivity issues but the clients are connected as a gig to the switches, and the vm is running on a new server with only a couple of other low use vm's. I'm probably going to try removing wsus from the clients next and see if they will pull critical updates direct from MS servers.

Nope, nothing but vanilla 2008/2012 servers here.

We haven't run Office 2003 updates since we had Win 7 so that should be OK - the inconsistent nature of this is very odd as a room full of identically images PCs on the same hardware get different results. I guess I'll have to remove wsus and let the client pull down critical updates themselves, although the way MS is going there will barely be any for W7 anymore!

Mine have now stopped working again! I don't know what's going on with these, at the ipad end they show as enrolled and compliant, yet the dashboard shows they haven't checked in for days (and the location is on the wrong continent!) Plus, newly assigned apps appear on the clients Meraki app, but dont install - trying to manually pull them down doesn't work either. So I'm back to the start again - but pretty much written off meraki as any kind of usable solution anymore.

Proxycfg on the clients shows no proxy being used which is correct. The product catalogue on the current WSUS is the basic Security/Critical for W7/10 only until I get them working - I used to have servers and other products but took them out whilst this is failing. All the clients resolve dns to the WSUS server instantly - I've also run a maintenance script on that but its pretty much a brand new system now. Each client can get to the iuident.cab file, and open the SimpleAuthWebService/SimpleAuth.asmx page so dns resolution is working ok. I've changed the application memory pool to unlimited as well to see if that helps!

Same here, W10 has been such a waste of time. Its not a case of configuring it to suit your environment, more like a desperate fight to get the crappy thing to work for some of the most basic tasks. And then going back a couple of days later to do it again!

No offence taken! I appreciate any ideas as I'm out! Our VM has more ram and more cpu cores than the old physical server. I also installed 2012 on the old physical server but that brought more problems (reset server node all the time) so I've decided to concentrate on the original VM. It has a single gigabit nic and only shares the host with 2 other VMs, both of which are very low usage. DNS queries all resolve nice and quick, fixed IPs on the servers makes sure of no mistakes. I'm about ready to reinstall 2008 on the old physical server as that was the last know working solution (with its only Xeon processor and 4gb of RAM!) but I have about a fifth of the pcs reporting in so its not completely dead, and thats the part I find confusing

We get an error when deploying printers through GPP (machine) and I can't get around it, has anyone scripted a printer install for W10? This is on 1607 with recent updates. What an utter POS W10 is turning out to be.

Weirdly, this has started working! I have changed nothing, and have simply been monitoring the firewall logs. Activity was the same, but several ipads have now enrolled,synched and pulled down the apps! Maybe this was at meraki's end all along!

I've given up with WSUS on 2012 as I got sick of the constant Reset Server errors. I've tried 2012 on a VM and physical server but have gone back to the original 2008 VM, which has 8 cores and 16gb ram. I've set the memory limit to 8GB as well. Still most clients are Not yet reported. Neither of those updates relate to 2008 server so I think thats ok. The windows 10 clients show up as Vista as before (not an issue as they're being rolled back to 7 in the next holiday) I'm stumped now, I had a perfectly working WSUS and I cannot get it to work even on a fresh new server install, I'm probably going to have to set each client to run automatic updates directly from MS now.

Heh, to be honest I've lost track of whats going on. I have a dozen new ipads and none will enroll or synch. The 404 error and magic seem to be common errors on them though. If I hotspot them they will then work - which isn't a solution really but I've wasted so much time on this I'm going to have to accept defeat. I think I've found what the 404 refers to, its an app crash logging site (crashlytics.com) that returns the 404, so some ios app is trying to log a crash log

No filtering on our wireless at all, I've got some bizarre errors on the ios logs as well: I mean, WTF is that supposed to mean!?

Yeah it all worked OK before - we moved from Ruckus to Xirrus and now they don't enroll. Or, if the do enroll simply don't do the initial synch.

I think I'm a bit screwed here. When I point these directly at the firewall (unfiltered, direct access with all outbound ports open) I can see access on 443/5223 going through the firewall, yet it still won't enroll. I can only assume that TMG is mangling something in the process, or our wireless is blocking it somehow but that seems unlikey as we use Xirrus and don't currently use any application blocking policies

The only error I can find is when the Meraki app is trying to enroll - the IOS log shows lots of these The http 404 suggests it can't connect to something, somewhere!
