Only staff have roaming profiles here, students have local, but they get there shared drive and all the programs they require are in a program group which they all have access to.

LOL I just noticed "Network and Classroom Management" in the forum lists, should have posted there. Well, I thought it was funny!

How do I do this?, I see no options for it? maybe cos we are using RM Tutor3 (RMified netsupport?). Before we do disable as in option3, we would like to catch the student(s) doing it. Thanks for your help.
-
Had a look at log files they do not appear to be much help. Though we have a had a scan of the students drives, 6 or so students have the tutor.cfg files in there folders, half of them were in the lesson questioned, so we are going to monitor them a bit closer.

Hi We have a cc3 setup, which works with no problem. We also run RM Tutor3 (netsupport). We appear to have a rogue student that somehow manages to take control of a teachers session whe in class. Does anyone know of anyway we could possible find out who, we know which lessons and when, but just cannot track it down to find out who it may be. We dont have Tutor3 running on may machines and indeed student profiles do not have access to the program, but somehow the it is happening! The teacher in question does state that his machine goes of on its own and also he watched as his program closed and his email opened up, He is also knows what he is doing, so I dont think its him. Any ideas? Thanks

We had an internal flood caused by builders cutting through a water pipe on the 2nd floor, the room underneath was an ICT room with 30+ PC's, projector 2 printers, monitors, etc. the whole room was like a rainforest. Does that count?

Come september we will have 3 new ict rooms and no more laptops / trolleys. GREEEEEAAAT!

One could also turn round and say "when people quote linux is crap, sometimes this may be improper use/config of Linux software". I agree, I have never used Linux really, but if I needed to I would make sure I researched correctly before hand.

The enite data to backup is less than our tape drive, we have no reduntent accounts, our tapes are 260Gb and the entire data back up is only 136Gb, so I am sure this is not a data space issue.

Think of a person being attacked by a swarm of wasps running around, trying to brush them away and I think that will probably be close I keep toying with the idea of getting a Wii but not had a go on one yet so will wait and see it uses the nunchuck as well, this will be for left right, jump, crouch and movement, the wiimote you have to move certain ways to do great moved, look really ace, I will be getting it.

I am ready for the backlash....... Please be gentle........

I agree, I think its simply the bad press making people think Microsoft are/were in charge dominating the market, and others dont like that. so turn that into a hate against all things Microsoft. I have used pure MS networks most of the time and dont really have any issues, serverwise, datawise, permissions etc. so when people quote linux does it better, sometimes this may be a inproper use/config of Microsoft software. If I invented a car that took the world by storm and 95% of the world drove one, there would always be someone who disagrees and buys a nissan micra saying ita much better you could do this easier. then there would be a craze to not touch my car. Personally if 1 man can create a bit of software that makes him zillions of dollars and is everywhere, well done to that man. Thats enough, just rambling.

Yes done all that, as i said it appears to work ok when I select a small job and/or a few files, but just wont do it when a full backup is setup.

We have it installed on 16 machines in music and all works ok, virtual drive on server. (not sure of setup before my time, but I can find out if anyone wants to know.

The frustration is growing. We have a backup drive which started to give up, the message is Unrecognised tape, 'please insert over writable media' we have a selection of tapes which are in a rotation, so I know that the tapes are perfectly ok, all the tape tools including the Sony tape tool work great, even if we select a small amount of files to backup it works great, but as soon as we do our normal backup it fails with the above message. Our Backup server (a mirror of our main server setup) is working fine with all the same setup and backuo routunes. The tapes are nowhere near capacity as they are 260gb compressed but the backup it not even getting as far as writing the data to the tape We had the tape drive replaced on the server and I have tested using sony tape backup. Vertias is still asking for over writable media. We are getting a bit dazed to why this is happening, has anyone experienced this, or similar, any ideas? Thanks

Before you all start boo-ing uncontrolable, I know, I KNOW its pants, but thats what I have to work with. So instead of being able to use the vast majority of opensource friendly MySQL CMS's out there, I have alas only have the option to use IIS, ASP, Access and for the life of me cannot find anything decent freebies out there, does anyone have any ideas, I am getting a bit annoyed crawling through google and finding nothing. It only needs to give me a nice menu and content to update. And, yes I could create a nice website myself, but I have no time, and dont want to update it myself. Please help a squared eye techy. Thanks
