I have a very sensible 02 plate ford mondeo 2.0 zetec estate, top range model though and new shape. Very good car only got about 2000 miles on new engine.

Not everywhere has broadband as yet remember, a friend of mine who lives near Oswestry can't get it, and apparently the whole of Milton Keynes has low quality aluminium telephone cabling, thus can't get ADSL. I have a great 8mb line in MK always connects at full speed.

We are going to setup access for heas of departments to be able to edit there own content on there own specific subject area, once done it cannot be published until another person approves it, this can be done via joomla permissions. We will be using Kalidos for our VLE and we can already see issues where Teachers will not update the pages and information. so best to keep the website managable with as less input from everybody as possible as you will be updating it will get to be a lot of work.

Hi, yes it is more of a brochure website, but thats all it needs to be, any images of pupils are authorised by parents, and any information on the site is freely available at any other source. I am struggling with SMT as they want other information on it, but I am keeping this off as it should should be on the VLE. (not understanding how it works and whats its for properly) We are trying to keep away from having to login and maintain users on the website as this is just more work. As for documents, all our downloads are PDF will all the rights removed, so they can not be edited, text or images taken off, hey can only be printed.

Our main website will be/is open to everyone thats what its for , when we implement our vle, then we will have passwords and usernames for that. Until then the website is for everyone to know about us.

Have you registered it again?

Once you have set the correct read/write permissions on the folder it should not change, sounds like a host space issue with that. Once logged in to administration section, at the bottom right you may have a red box containing the following: "Following PHP Server Settings are not optimal for Security and it is recommended to change them: PHP register_globals setting is `ON` instead of `OFF` Joomla! RG_EMULATION setting is `ON` instead of `OFF` in file globals.php `ON` by default for compatibility reasons " Again, looking at the error on the status bar at the bottom when your page loads, I reckon there is an problem with the hosting space, either needs an upgrade of something on the server side, or an incompatibilty somewhere. Whos it hosted with?

You have a page error once the page has loaded, what version of MySQL and PHP are you using?, also have you got registered disabled or enabled?

You could copy all the template folders across, this contains the colour swicthers
-
ok, ignore the "#" bit thats correct, but check the others.
-
Either some of the files have not been FTP across correctly or not there at all , or it is a permissions, the links when highlighting them is a "#". Try copying the whole folder structure again and checking the correct CHMOD permissions on all the required folders.

Aha , that would be quite important to know what I am actually using would'nt it! D'oh I am using the Edugeek Joomla Template by Sysman. this wont be a Css fix. I just want to know where to put a gif so it will show up in a content Item. lol

I have installed the creation3d component for a gallery, which works great no problems, however I have also installed the drop down menus which also work, but when you hover over the menus when the gallery page is loaded it goes behind the gallery and not on top. I can get around this by adding a transparent gif to knock everything down, but where do I place the gif so it picks it up? it only shows placeholder not gif. I have placed it into the same folder as the gallery as this is where all the files for this are. so it must be looking elsewhere for file but I cannot find it. AArrrggghhh.

Upgrading old Joomla Package with new Tempate
Scotmk replied to rush_tech's topic in Web Development
You should see a template folder, just copy the template folder across into this folder. Then change the templet in admin section. (of course if it uses any extra functions that sysman_mk has added then this may have issues), but if just template then should work fine. -
renaming will error, carry on with the install, then at the end it will give you the correct details, copy them , then paste them in this file, it will work fine then.

Is your school website DDA compliant?
Scotmk replied to bishopsgarthstockton's topic in Web Development
Having a look at their examples, they are all missing 1 vital example of DDA-compliancy, which is Access-Keys. e.g. being able to to press (alt + first character of menu), ie. if they have a menu item called About us, then you should be able to press "alt + A", this should be for vistitors unable to use a mouse correctly. Also multi colour change. (as per excellent example in Sysman_mk joomla template. So what are they on! -
Sounds like a duplicate machine name/SID as mentioned, not removed from last build on AD.

Next plan of action 'ditch AOL' and get a provider that doe sinternet the correct way, without going through all its software rubbish.

Zoom has been about for years, its not different to that of "sweex" cheap but same stuff as everyone else. is ok if you want cheap, but you cannot beat branded if you want something decent. http://www.broadbandbuyer.co.uk, I know the 2 directors *essenet", great chaps, nice cars! )
