Hi all, Long time PRTG user but the new subscriptions rates are a huge increase and we currently run about 2000 sensors. I have dabbled with Zabbix, but its a lot of admin overhead, needs the Zabiix agent to monitor windows servers, and its based on Linux which just needs more skills/time to manage. Just wondered what other schools\colleges are using now?

I am currently testing Autopilot hybrid without SCCM-Comanagement, We currently import the hardware hashes and then run a Autopilot wipe task sequence (doesnt install SCCM client) to install windows 11 and then it boots into windows 11.

[24h2 / lts 2024] Deployment of Hybrid AD Devices
supps replied to ZakFarnworth's topic in Windows 11
@Boredguy Do you mind sharing your custom PC Renaming script/setup please? I have found some online but they just rename to the serial number, we are looking for it to be linked to the classroom name/number. I have been pulling my hair out with this! -
We are facing the same issues and looks like you need to script/app to do this. https://oofhours.com/2023/10/26/renaming-autopilot-deployed-devices/ @Bugzi HAve you progressed your issue, how are you deploying hybrid join?

Hi, I am currently down the same rabbit hole. Spent some time trying to get Hybrid join working with Autopilot and I dont think its worth the effort (Seems to create a duplicate entra device?!) You also can't specify the computer name on the Hybrid Domain join Intune profile . Looks like some potential scripts/apps to do it. I originally setup Co-Management, but seems to take ages to sync and isntall apps. Coming from a SCCM task sequence that is pretty zero touch this is frustrating. I would be interested if you have got any further?

Hi, We are looking to merge two of our 365 Tenancies together next summer. We want to migrate our secondary school (1200 pupils, 145 staff) My main concern is what doesnt migrate very well (3rd party systems linked to entra, Forms, PowerBI reports, Planners), so I am possibly looking at getting a 3rd party into to help us. Whilst we can do a lot our selves (recreating/moving users/computers to other Entra/AD Domain, files shares to one drive ), we really want the tenancy migration to be as smooth a transition as possible especially as happening over the summer before a busy September! Can anyone recommend a company that have done this for you? If not, would be great to hear anything you have learnt from merging tenancies and any gotchas to look out for. Thanks

Microsoft NPS/Radius MAC Authentication with Wireless
supps replied to Tefters's topic in Wireless Networks
Did you manage to get this working? I am trying to get one device that doesn't support 802.1x and Certificates to use Mac Authentication. Not ideal, but I also don't want to broadcast a SSID campus wide for one device! -

We use Windows Defender on Desktops, with IT and SMT users using Defender 365 with A5. On our more critical servers we use Microsoft Defender for Endpoint Server. The portal gives a good overview of security recommendations as well. On Macs we have gone with JAMF Protect, which seems ok.

We are currently looking at linking all our MAT schools together. The single domain option does sounds simpler, but how complex have people found in migrating existing AD domains to the new single domain? Ours consist of one secondary school and a few primary schools.

Hi, We have profile manager for managing Macs, and over the summer we have installed a new print server. therefore, I have added the new printer mapping into Profile Manager and removed the old one. Most users are picking up the new printer mapping fine, but some users aren't. Looking in Library/Managed Preferences folder, I can see a folder created for the user and within the folder is a com.apple.mcxprinting.plist which still has the old print server value. I have tried removing Library/Managed Preferences folder but on logon the files are recreated with the incorrect print server. The Mac has also been unbound from Open Directory as well. the Mac is definelty picking up the right profiles, and our Profile manager config is fairly simple so cant see any other profiles which might only be applying to certain users. I really dont know where this old value is being stored. The Server is running 10.11.5 and Server 5.1.5. Something is making me thing think historic Workgroup Manager settings are still being applied, but I have no way to open Workgroup Manager anymore as the server OS is too new. This is a site we recently taken over, so unsure on how the system was setup pre me. Any ideas on how t troubleshoot this one? Thanks

Hi all, We were planning to move to Windows 10 during next Academic year, but we have been forced to do this over the summer for our Computing PCs. We have SCCM on latest version, but I haven't been involved with image deployment before. Looking online is a bit of a minefield of the best way to deploy with SCCM. MDT, or create base image or use NTLite. Can anyone recommend any good guides or summary of where to start? I have looked through this forum, but can't find any definitive guide? Thanks, Scott
