  1. I'm in the final stages of starting my MCTS 70-680 (Configuring Windows 7) with Open.IT This is the provider that Microsoft UK recomend. They have test centers all over the country.
  2. Lets go a slender Leeds Advantage, pretty much "old trafford-esque" as a memory of last season?
  3. Our school do the same, but it doesn't apply to IT staff.
  4. Yeah we pretty much got the same treatment here to be honest.
  5. Well, we have Today and Monday as INSET days... It turns out that the only people working are the four IT staff and a site operative. Its -4 outside, what are we doing at work?
  6. Yes, I cycled through the ADPREP /forestprep, ADPREP /domainprep, ADPREP /domainprep /gpprep etc...
  7. The 2003 box is a Domain Controller with print services and AD domain services on.
  8. That would be our american cousins who seem to forget that we speak English because we're from England
  9. But it would never last long enough to talk about what its called.
  10. Indeed, but did we not get taught at infants school about the "magic e"? The e at the end of a word, elongates the vowel. Thus making it a scone...
  11. I had to deice my car twice this morning. Once at 7am, and then went inside to finish my coffee and by 7.25, it was frozen over again.
  12. Further to previous posts of mine relating to migrating active directory, I ran Adprep on the domain controller and then ran dcpromo on the 2008 server, as advised by many people on here. http://http://www.edugeek.net/forums/windows-server-2008-r2/65103-migrating-ad-2008-r2.html All appeared to be fine, we had the two domain cotrollers sitting side by side, the 2k3 DC working fine and the 2k8 DC sitting idle with nothing pointing at it. We then get a week of reports where students, and only students, randomly cannot see the mapped network drives. I then ran dcpromo again on the 2k8 server to demote it again. Problem solved.
  13. Can I just clarify, I have to run dcpromo on the NEW server?
  14. What we are doing basically is this: we are eventually migrating from windows server 2003 to windows server 2008, but we want to do it with minimal disruption to the network. I have installed windows server 2008 on a new server, but we want to go live with one before switching the previous one off.
  15. Now that we have built our new Active Directory Server, is there any way of copying the existing AD database in order to put it into the new server?
  16. Thanks guys, this should be enough to be going on with. I am knew to server side tech support, I have 5 years experience on desktop support, but this is my first graduate job and as such my first server build. I built the server and installed server 2K8 yesterday and I am now looking at configuring it either tomorrow or early next week. I will read up further on your suggestions and then get going on it.
  17. I am building our new curriculum server at the moment but we are looking to migrate to AD 2008 R2 without switching the AD 2003 server off, as we are introducing this one as our first 2008 server. Any ideas on how this can be done?
  18. Excellent match... Much improved, although, I was at Elland Road Last Monday for the Cardiff game and our performance wasn't that bad.
  19. One of our staff users has an old access database, created in Access 2003. However when we open the .mdb file in MS access 2010, some of the tables are missing. We then open the database in Access 2003 on another machine and it opens and views fine. I have read that there maybe compataility issues with access 2003/2007, but I cannot find any fixes for access 2010. Does anybody have any ideas wy this is happening or how it can be fixed?
  20. I have a suite of imac's and plan to partition the hard drives to overcome an issue with importing videos within imovie. However for simplicity, I would like to create an icon on the desktop to link to the partition volume. Simply to allow the students to copy work from the partition to their own home drive. Is there a way of mounting the drive to multiple users on the same machine/
