  1. That's a very tempting price. I like HP kit, very reliable. My current HTC Wizard is starting to give out, and it's far too bulky to carry around.

    XP SP3

I grabbed it from Technet last week. I found it slowed my laptop down on a fresh build, compared with SP2 with no real software installed. However, after a rebuild it seems to be the same on performance. We probably won't roll this out for a few months in case anything pops up that MS didn't anticipate, e.g. like the Dynamics incompatibility.
  3. It's not going too well! Machine wouldn't boot this morning. It would keep rebooting, and when I finally got into Windows, the performance was awful. I've reimaged back to pre-SP1 and I'm trying it again, as I've had several BSoDs in the past week due to a dodgy graphics card, so that might have caused some damage to the OS. @Joedetic - I had that issue with an ASUS P5N-E SLI board, one of the major boards affected. It was a bad update, which they *finally* pulled, I just hid the update to blame when I worked out which one it was.
  4. I have literally just installed the Service Pack, via TechNet - which has taken me three days to find out where they've hidden it, which is another story. Everything seems to work, apart from Norton AV complaining about a system scan being needed. Installation time was just over fifty minutes on my machine (Core 2 Duo 2.2GHz, 4GB RAM, 64bit Ultimate) If anything goes horribly wrong I'll post the details.
  5. Or if you are going to multicast a whole room, start the session at 2am
  6. I'd agree with that. We have one and it's great.
  7. Hi guys, At a primary school we support they had a small mini-network running Successmaker version 5.1.1. When this "mini" server died we took a back up of the data, and are now in the process of installing Successmaker on their new server. However.... and it's a big one..... there are no installation documents at all. RM and Link2ICT at Birmingham Council do not want to know. There is no chance of money being spent on a new version. I've found the Canadian .pdf instructions mentioned in similar threads, however the version we have to play with is far older. If anyone has had any experience with this, please could you let me know. We have a set of CD ROMs with learning materials on them; a Successmaker Basics 4.2 CD, which has configuration utlities on it, however it requires the HISTORY (whatever that is) to be installed first. We have a floppy disc named: Successmaker - Install key -Disc V5.1.1 (April 2001). Which contains a huge number of .ini's and batch files, but nothing useful. We're at our wits end here, as this has to be installed, and it has to be this version!
  8. Go with Freedom2Surf in my opinion. £24.99 pcm for up to 8Mbps capped at 50gig. Have been with them for three years, and I've chosen to stay with them at my new house. Never had any real issues, apart from MAX when it first came out, but we all know that was down to BT. Good technical support, was on the phone to one of their guys last week and he knew what he was talking about.
  9. Recently appointed as a trainee ICT Technician on £13,875 a year. This is before the April 3% rise, so hopefully now just over £14k. After reading this I appear to be very lucky to be at that wage scale on a trainee post.
