Yep, that's the plan going forward, but I need to get something in place sharpish. Do you know what settings I need to include in the group policy for the client upgrade to apply successfully?
-
Our SIMS clients fail to apply upgrades unless an administrator is logged in. I have tried to run simsperm.bat but for whatever reason this has not worked. I am now looking to push out the appropriate permissions via group policy. Would anyone with this setup mind sharing their GPO settings being applied? Clients are Windows 7 x64. Many thanks.

I am hoping to use PowerShell to track down a missing laptop. I have the computer name and have been able to determine the last login date by running get-adcomputer -identity computername -properties * but this does not give the name of the last user to login. Is there such a command?

I have been asked to install Python on the school network. Does anybody have an idiots guide for deploying Python via either SCCM or Group Policy? Are there any deployment tips you would be willing to share which may make the process a little less painful i.e. how to change the default install location Thanks in advance.

We are on the verge of having a new VOIP telephone system installed on the network and I have been asked to reserve a range of IP addresses for this purpose. The range of IP addresses I would like to use are currently in use by clients on the network. My question is, if I was to create a new exclusion range including these specific addresses, what would happen to the devices on the network? Would they be instantly kicked off or would they continue to work as before until the lease period has expired and then pickup a new IP address? I hope this is clear. Many Thanks!

In my case, the audio does play from home which points to a filtering issue inside school.

We're in the same boat. Unable to playback audio on the MFL course. Contacted support who happily provided me with a list of urls to white list but this has made no difference. Great piece of software...

Thanks for the replies. I'm still unable to delete the folders even after taking ownership of them!
-
My user account is a member of the domain admins group and has full control over the folder in question. When I try to delete the folder I am faced with "Folder Access Denied: You need permission to perform this action". This seems to be the case with all folders ending .v2. UAC has been disabled on the server and I have tried with multiple domain admin accounts. Anybody else seen this before?

I'm having trouble attaching an .msi to a group policy i've created. When I create new package and select the file I see the following error. Add operation failed. Unable to extract deployment information from the package. Run validation on the package to ensure that the package is correct. I can run the .msi locally so I know the file works.

Can anybody help me with a script to remove all printer drivers from an XP system?
-
I have a very simple script to remove all network printers, however this does not remove old printers that are no longer attached to the network. How should I modify the attached script to remove 'all' printers? Go easy on me, scripts are not my forte remove-network-printers.vbs.txt

Hi All, We have a small number of software packages installed on a server and shared over the network by placing a shortcut of the executable in a shared folder. I'm sure this is not the best way to share software, but it usually works just fine. However, there have been a few occasions recently when users are seemingly unable to access the software over the wireless network - the shortcut appears as a deadlink and returns an error along the lines of "The drive or network connection that the shortcut refers to is unavailable". If I plug an ethernet cable into the device and refresh the page the icons reappear and the software loads as per normal. This would kind of suggest the problem was related to the wireless network, but 99% of devices are able to load the software correctly. Any advice on this would be welcome.

Hi all, I'm looking for an Aruba partner based around the Hampshire area to help with the configuration of an Aruba wireless network. Thanks in advance!

Anybody know the address to whitelist in order to access the App store over network?

Has anybody ever come across a "TokenActivationContainer: XML Parsing error" whilst trying to activate Cubase 4 using the License Control Centre? It's got me stumped and Steinberg support is impossible to get hold of!

Good news...! After speaking with LA, we allowed access through port 443 and then it was just a case of checking the firewall logs and adding the IP address in was looking at to the 'approve' list. I hope this helps others having the same issue.
-
Glad to know we're not the only ones having trouble! I've logged a ticket with our support team and I will post the outcome on here as soon as I get a response back from them.
-
Thanks for the reply. Yes, there we do go through a LA proxy but Internet is otherwise working perfectly. Could it be that we need to open specific ports to allow access?

I'm curious to know if any other schools, particularly in Hampshire, have run into problems trying to use the Dragon Dictation app over a wireless network? The app launches fine but soon displays an error message "Cannot connect to our system. Please make sure that you have an internet connection". I know for a fact that the app works fine on my home wifi which leads me to believe that there must be an issue with our network. Please help!
