That's the one thing I dislike about it, it seems like a bit of a minefield finding out what you can get, on the Vita especially it's not obvious (having said that, it looks like they've started listing games under the PS+ section now, that's how I found Guacamelee) That list you put up for instance is lacking Guacamelee on Vita which I know for a fact is available - I've just been playing it EDIT: likewise, if you go to the PS+ section on https://store.sonyentertainmentnetwork.com it doesn't list Contrast (PS4) but it is still a free PS+ game. There must be some way of finding a definitive list? I've just added Don't Starve, Contrast and Resogun so that when I do get a PS4, I'll have a few games off the bat

It seems you're correct (I can't access PS+ website at work, but this official YouTube video agrees with you) Only watched the video after posting - Worms on Vita! Two games I wanted in one month - yeah I think I'll stick with the Vita, it'll save me a fortune in the long run!

Decided to check out how much Guacamelee is on the PS Store - free with PS+ right now I have to say, the quality of the PS+ games is astounding, it's almost worth keeping the Vita just for that...

Yeah I won't be devastated if they don't make a feature length film, although it could turn out well as they'll apparently hire someone to flesh it out in to a movie script (rather than them just trying to stretch 30 minutes worth of ideas in to 90 minutes which could ruin it)

@X-13 is right - the $200k was to make a 30 minute version, if they hit $1m then they're making a feature-length movie

@alexbillbridgnorth - we could go round in circles all day with this but I think you're missing the point of the Steam box - it's not intended to replace your PC, it's there to provide Steam games in a console style format. It's a totally new way of doing things (or at least the first attempt by a major company) and I think the potential is fantastic, the problem is that they're kind of falling victim to their own success. There are people with HUGE Steam libraries who would theoretically be your early uptakers (I have over 150 games and I wouldn't class myself as a hardcore gamer by any means) BUT those people already own their own gaming PCs that many of them have spent a fortune on, so they're unlikely to buy a new box just for Steam and they'll also be hesitant to convert their existing box as it is their main PC also (I'm making sweeping generalisations here I know). You've got to stop looking at the Steam box as a PC and start looking at it as what it is - a console. It's not like any other console out there, granted it's a lot more like a PC, but the aim (or so it seems) is to break in to the console market. All consoles lock you in to their infrastructure and Steam is no different. As for your bottom line - unfortunately, as much as I'd like SteamOS to take off, I don't think it will. Valve have handled it poorly.

It's not totally about the aesthetics with the 2DS for me, it's the practicality. I find it's size and shape awkward, so would rather pay the extra £50 for a machine I find more comfortable to use even if I don't use the 3D - it's personal taste.

@alexbillbridgnorth - I'm sorry but you're obviously talking about something you don't know a lot about. SteamOS has always been Linux based. This is why we have the chicken and egg situation whereby AAA producers need to support Linux but won't if there isn't a strong enough user base. Valve want to create this user base with the help of SteamOS, but will struggle until at least one AAA producer takes a leap of faith. It's all riding on Valve getting good third party support at this point. The way I see it, SteamOS is trying to bridge that gap between console and PC gaming - they want to create an environment that's as easy to use as a console while maintaining the upgrade-ability and general future proof nature of a PC. This comes at the cost of "removing" (they're still there in the background but not as obvious as a Windows/Ubuntu PC for instance) some of the things you'd normally use a PC for but then that's not the point - this is intended as a purely-for-gaming machine, not your general purpose PC. I'm not convinced it will work at the moment as we're getting closer and closer to release and yet we still haven't heard anything that would make most people take the leap. Valve are going to need some awesome launch titles to get this off the ground, possibly even making them SteamOS exclusive for the first couple of months (though that will create a backlash from seasoned Steam users so might not be the best idea). As for your comments RE Steam forcing you to buy everything from them - sorry, that's just wrong. You can shop around for Steam keys to get them cheaper, although to be honest I find Steam's own prices very reasonable usually, especially if you wait for the regular sales. Valve displays less of a monopoly over Steam titles than MS or Sony do over the XB1/PS4 - you only have to look at the sheer number and variety of titles available to see that. Yeah OK, wherever you buy your Steam keys from, Valve still control the DRM, but that's no different to any of the consoles, they all produce their own discs or have only their own store available for downloads. Additionally, you can add any game/program installed on your machine to your Steam library. Granted it's only a shortcut, but this opens up the possibility of adding other Linux titles (not a lot of those outside of Steam admittedly) to your SteamOS menu and continue to launch them from there. No way to do anything like that with a console. Nobody mentioned Alienware so far as I can tell so I'm not sure where that came from but when it comes to pre-built PCs, it's simple - if you want an easy life, buy prebuilt. If you want VFM (and know what you're doing), build your own. Simple.

Answered your own question Just... no. lol. There's a big difference between my PC which I can upgrade when I see fit and an (IMO) overpriced laptop that loses value faster than a new car. There's also a big difference between getting out a Vita/3DS on the bus/train and a stonking big noisy heat generating battery devouring laptop... I know you're only trying to help but it's a no go for me

I don't have a 3DS though, I have a Vita also, don't know where you got your info on the R4 card from but I suspect it's wrong - Nintendo famously try to block any platform shifting (unless you pay for their authorised ports of course). Also, format shifting is still technically illegal in the UK. It's a big grey area and to be honest my days of messing in grey areas are done... I'll check out Dragon's Crown too, thanks. The one thing that is keeping me hanging on to Vita at the moment is that I intend to buy a PS4 at some point... You can turn off the 3D effect on the 3DS, I have to because it gives me splitting headaches. I really can't stand the 2DS, big ugly door stop that it is. If they'd made it exactly like the 3DS but with 3D functionality removed, I'd have bought one, but I don't understand how that thing made it to market, it's vile. Yeah I've heard very good things about that, sound like it's an FF game in all but name

You think they'll make us wait that long? I'm hoping that we'll see at least a partial version of PS Now by Autumn... I was thinking about GR some more and I am enjoying the story of the game, it's just unfortunate the game itself is so repetitive, "talk to person, get obscure mission, realize that's not the real mission, complete real mission, fight boss," all the time using the same gravity mechanic which honestly, so far, hasn't been used all that well - it's essentially the ability to fly as there are very few points in the game you use it for anything else. I may still be quite early in the game though, so I'll stick it out.

FFVII is my favourite game overall. Zelda series I love (yeah I know, no chance on the Vita!) Currently enjoying the Batman Arkham series Bastion was good fun Fez is also great Burnout Paradise I really enjoyed Colin McRae/Dirt I like a lot too Skyrim, Dragon Age, The Witcher etc. (I'm a fan of RPG's overall) Tomb Raider games have always been entertaining, even the "bad" ones (always felt the ones that get slated are really just victim to their predecessors successes) FPS - I can get in to these if they have a good story. Early CoD games I loved but as the series went on it's like they just used a template for the SP as something to demo at exhibitions. Worms series, loved these for ages despite the absolute lack of any story, unusual for me I'll give Soul Sacrifice another chance, it just didn't immediately grab me as anything special. I think part of the worry for me is that SS and Gravity Rush regularly turn up in top 10 lists for Vita and while I'm enjoying GR, it's really a one trick pony, it's not something I could play for hours. My worry is if they're two of the best, things look pretty bleak from where I'm standing ATM... Guacamelee looks interesting, I'll give that a go when pay day rolls round

No I'm afraid not, even completely disassembled, you'd struggle to get some of the individual parts in to a car, it really needs a van, preferably Transit size to reduce the amount of disassembly necessary

OK, I can see the appeal there then but that's another reason for me not to buy it, I'm afraid I'm a massive loner when it comes to games! (actually I'm a massive loner full stop but that's another issue lol)

Indeed... I'll check out when that offer ends tonight. A part of me thinks just hang in there with the Vita because it may well pick up steam thanks to them being pushed to PS4 owners, but then the other, bigger part of me says "screw it, I want games now." Might sell/trade the Vita for a 3DS then buy a PS4/Vita bundle when I have that kind of money... probably never!

Little quiet here today, I know the photos are carp but they aren't that bad

Well I bought a Vita and... where are the games?! I signed up to PS+ and got a few free games from that: - Soul Sacrifice (only played briefly, not sure I like the controls) - Uncharted 3 (again only played briefly, seems OK apart from awkward camera angles) - Blazblue (can't be doing with fighting games!) - Vice City Stories (love GTA but seriously, no Vita update?!) - Gravity Rush (seems to be one of the highest rated games for Vita, I'm enjoying it in small bursts but it's so repetitive!) I got Tearaway and Little Big Planet with the console. Tearaway is good fun and probably best game I've seen using all of the Vita's features. Little Big Planet - well it's Little Big Planet both good fun if a little kid-ish I guess what I'm really disappointed in is the lack of "deep" games - I have a smartphone I can play endless casual games on, I really expected more depth from the Vita. My main reason for getting the Vita over 3DS is I thought the games would be more in depth - as it stands, I'm thinking the opposite is true! Think I'll give it a couple of months to see if it grows one me then trade for a 3DS if not. EDIT: also, it seems that downloads are the only way to go with the Vita but as has been said, the memory situation sucks. I noticed with Content Manager you can back up games to your PS3 though so at least you can store games you're not currently playing on there rather than downloading them again (big issue for me with my crappy BB)

adding to what @bossman and @Domino said, even better if said staff champion is from the English/Maths department - I find if I can get one of those two departments using something, everyone else will follow. Think of English/Maths as the Joneses and every other department as the jealous neighbour

It's probably just me being dumb but I can't see how you differentiate which is Green Lantern, Wonderwoman, Superman etc... perhaps one I'll buy in store where I can have a proper look at them! Y! Almost forgot that one, it sounded interesting reading about it in the DC eBook I linked earlier I'm open minded - Frank Book added (the other two were already on the list )

Are they quite hard to get hold of or am I just looking in the wrong places? The only places I really know are Amazon and Forbidden Planet and neither throw up much searching for Infinite Crisis... My Amazon wishlist is expanding @ICTDirect_Dave - the DC Crisis series looks interesting, but I can't tell whether there is a continuous story arc (i.e. is there a particular one I should start with) or if they each stand alone? @sparkeh - that's one hell of a list! If I said to you you're only allowed to keep three of those (series) and the rest must be burned forever, which would you choose?
