Not taken any - my Photoshop blending isn't good enough, I haven't the patience for it - but I was rather taken with the photos in this article: These Photos Are More Terrifying Than Most Horror Movies On a related note, I started playing Mind: Path to Thalamus on my PC last night, and while the story & voice acting are so horrendous that I immediately muted it and put some Eluvium on in the background instead, I've never seen a game so beautiful and surreal. I came out of an hour and a half's play with over 30 screenshots:

It'll be nice to see some colour on the grid! Quite similar shades to the Williams of the 90s. The homogenisation of the noses is leaving all the cars looking a bit similar, though.

Bah. I wanted the 80s orange livery back There's too much silver in F1 at the moment, it's boring! I like the nose though, compared to some designs.

Yeah, the hangovers are crippling. Not even three months since my 30th and I get day long headaches from 3 quiet pints the night before. Most of the time I start getting the headache while I'm drinking now. Happy birthday!

If it's made by ex-Opera members, it's from good stock. Opera always deserved to do better than it did, though I suspect its "pay £30 or deal with giant ads up top" model killed it. Been having this argument with my favourite Head of Faculty again this morning, trying to explain to her precisely why we didn't want her old SCART leads or VHS tapes that she was clearing out of her cupboard. "But they're still in their original packaging!" And they're still bloody useless to me and anyone else under the sun. Honestly, she handed me a tripod handle with a screw thread on the end - just the handle, useless without anything to screw it into, just a lump of plastic with some foam around it - and the look of horror on her face when I threw it straight in the bin was comical. We had one of those Sony Mavica cameras lying around not so long ago. Favourite old thing in my office though: Who's playing with your database?Huh? Huh? Do they have a calculator watch? And a Ghostbusters badge? And a half-eaten classic Mars bar? And an unusual need to declare their exact age to everyone via a not-suspicious-at-all pin badge? I think they might!

QFT. Two pints of Guinness is about the same level as a Steakwich in terms of nutrition and filling...ness. IMHO, of course. For some reason, though, SMT frown on me bringing it in for a working lunch, despite my protestations of hygiene (no crumbs) and efficiency (can drink through a straw leaving two hands free to continue working).

£180 is pretty good for a console still - that's what the Wii launched at, and I don't think you couldn't build any sort of gaming PC for that price. If you have people on hand to play with, as well, you will get hours and hours and hours out of Mario Kart and Smash Bros. If academic qualifications accurately reflected the topics with the most time spent on them during studies, my degree would be Super Smash Brothers Melee (with electives in MK Double Dash and Super Monkey Ball). Way I see it, most the games on PS4/XBone will be on PC as well, and you got one of them. The games on a Wii U will only be on a Wii U, and there's still not many people make games as good as Nintendo do.

FantasyRacers isn't running at all for F1, the racer name change was only the stopgap solution for the rest of the 2014 season Question: Isn't 10 points for pole and 10 points for fastest in Q3 basically just 20 points for pole? I think anyone can sign up for this; I'm signed in through my Hotmail account, which was the account that my MCSA is against, so perhaps that's why I have access, but it looks like it's open to everyone. Microsoft Virtual Academy - Know It. Prove It. is a bunch of free courses on MS stuff to do through February. It has courses like Mobile Development and Game Development, but of more relevant interest is the Identity & Access Management course, which covers AD, PKI, Powershell, defence in depth and a bunch of Server 2012R2 stuff. There's also an Office 365 course and a Sharepoint course amongst others. It looks to be pretty in-depth - someone in the forum there mentioned a challenge taking 30 hours - so it's a decent chunk of up to date training for free. Suits me! EDIT: $technician has just tried with the Hotmail account he set up when he was 12 and it's let him in, so it's free and open to all. Result!

That's a nice looking build, well rounded, good components, and right in the sweet spot of getting the most for your money you could've spent more, but I doubt you'd have noticed the difference from what you've got. I know that was the advice three years ago, when all this came out in discussion first; not sure if the prevailing wisdom has changed but most of the review sites still recommend One GPU To Rule Them All rather than two in combination.

All multi-GPU set ups can give you problems with microstutter as well: Multi-GPU micro-stuttering captured on video - The Tech Report I seem to recall nVidia saying something about smoothing out delivery and mitigating the issue, but I forget. Not everyone is bothered by the juddering effect, but it annoyed me. The idea of higher frame rates is to make everything feel smoother, and multi-GPU undoes that with microstutter.

I think watercooling is already hassle enough without having to bleed the radiators!

I had a Crossfire set up - 2 x 5770 - and won't ever bother again, TBH. Even without the driver grief of new games (Witcher 2 had some interesting effects at launch; there's little I've done in my life as geeky as daily checking the Twitter of a GPU driver developer to see if there's a new CAP out yet), I spent more of my time fretting that my settings were at their best to get the most out of the GPUs than I did actually enjoying the game. I'd never just enjoy a game for looking pretty, as I'd always be wondering "could it be prettier?" I'm on a single 680 now, that I got cheap just before the 780 came out (about 15 months ago now) and it's a beauty. Asus DirectCUII cooler, mmmmm. Anyway, 760 to 960 wouldn't be a big enough improvement to warrant the move, I don't think; even nVidia are only pushing it as an upgrade for 460/560/660 users. Hexus have it within spitting distance in their benchmarks: Review: Asus Strix GTX 960 DirectCU II - Graphics - HEXUS.net - Page 5 I reckon there's no point in upgrading until you're going to get twice the performance, which is usually about three generations if you're buying the same class of card, and you can drop a generation for every class you move up. So a 660 should be doubled by the 1060, is already doubled by the 970, and was doubled by the 780. It's a rough rule of thumb, but it seems to hold up for now. All of which means you need a 980... but luckily an OC 970 gets close enough to a 980 if you can't wait
