Hello, Does anyone have a solution for importing and exporting card data from Net2 or any intermediatry software that will help do this? Thanks Robbie

Hello, Could I ask if anyone has tackled a removable media ban/policy? We've had an audit report which recommends banning removable media in its entirety but this leaves several conundrums * What to do with staff/learners who do not have internet access at home * How to manage those working with large files that are not suitable for cloud sync such as media 4k videos This then complicates things as if you don't ban them but fall back to a "require encryption" model how does that work in a Windows AND Mac environment in terms of technical control. I've looked at solutions such as cocosys but very expensive. If it was just Windows we could apply a group policy requiring bit locker. Thoughts most welcome!! Rob

Hello, We are having a problem with our wireless and has been ongoing throughout the year. We use Aerohive/Extreme AP630-650 and 305C and HP/Aruba switches. We use eduroam as our SSID backed up by a Windows Radius Server. The problem we are having is that when a client connects they sometimes end up with an IP from the core network. This more often than not occurs on mobile phones or tablets. The ExtremeCloud will show the device on the correct VLAN(150) but the switch will show the user on VLAN 1. In terms of port settings, each AP switch port is set as a trunk with untagged vlan 1 and tagged vlan 150 I have plugged myself into a switch that demonstrates the problem as untagged VLAN150, I get the correct IP and doing a DHCP discover can only see the correct DHCP server. I'm at a bit of a loss with it. Would any downstream switches effect things? They all have the correct tagging To add to the mystery our old Ruckus system also does the same. Any thoughts, suggestions or additional troubleshooting methods would appreciated Thanks Robbie

Thanks hadn't even thought of doing that. We have a similar issue on the storage side and I think that could also be a DAC cable. Will take a look Monday

Hello, We are experiencing quite a few technical issues at the moment but unsure if more than one problem at play. One of our reception computers that runs the switchboard software kept signing out which has led us to a network issue. Pings are spiking and occasionally timing out but not frequently enough to get back to basics of segmenting and isolating. The network at the moment is running a mixture of HP switches (HPE, HP, 3com, Aruba - 5800, 2920, 1910, 1920, 2948). Not seeing many errors but just before leaving today spotted some send or receive discards on a 10gbe SFP+ DAC cable that is linking to core switches. Any advice on where to even begin with this? It is almost like a storm but not very severe! We had something similar a few years ago where a PC was malfunctioning and causing a storm but the packet loss was much more noticeable. My first thought is to enable spanning tree. We have managed without it up until now Robbie

Updated the client to 1810 and all is working fine. I wonder if there is an issue with 1809? -

I just found an 1809 client that it doesn't work on. The Office clients that were working were on 1810. Updating the "non working" computer and will feedback Robbie -
Office 2016 - Auto sign in to Office 365

I think it is working. Not sure which of the steps fixed the issue. In addition to those documented above I also logged onto SharePoint Online and ran Set-SpoTenant -OfficeClientADALDisabled $False This had no effect to any accounts with an existing profiles on the PC. I then deleted the profiles from the PC and each account that subsequently logged on got the Connected Services. Thanks for the help will see how this replicates across the estate. It might be that we need to lower the profile deletion time if that is the prerequisite of it working Going to add a caveat to this. If the machine has been activated using DBA all is ok. If the machine has office belonging to a user it still fails. I think we have some installs where office is belonging to a user as DBA has failed during the imaging of a PC or a user has some how taken over the license Robbie -

It is possibly down to an Office update but unable to figure out how to confirm Users autologin fine when going to outlook.office.com/owa and in the office client the user is still signed in and is just missing the connected services -

The internal domain that the users log into is empire.boston.ac.uk, their email and UPN is @student.boston.ac.uk but activating office using our tenant onmicrosoft.com domain. empire.boston.ac.uk is not setup in Azure ad connect but @student.boston.ac.uk. Hybrid join uses empire. PC's are showing up as Hybrid joined in Azure see attached image below -

Ok we are hybrid joined. I have freshly installed office and activated(it wouldn't let me activate the installed version hence the reinstall, probably another problem to solve) Still there are no Connected Services -

Can you confirm if Hybrid join free to use? If it is I'll get about setting it up. The only concern is the issue was happening even when we were on ADFS Robbie -

I tried giving the user a complete bypass from Smoothwall and no luck. Also tried to remove all but the need GPO's for Azure SSO and that had no effect Office version seems to be 1809 and upwards, Windows is on 1803 but in early stages of quantifying the issue. Users show as signed into Office but connected services are not auto adding Robbie - - - Updated - - - Will take a look Thanks -

We are having the same issues now but not throughout. User is showed as signed in on Office 365 Apps but connected services do not appear unless you sign out off the app and back in If anyone has any ideas would be appreciated. Have tried bypassing Smoothwall by putting in an exception to no avail. Tried uninstalling AV. We are using Azure SSO but the same problems were there with ADFS Robbie -
Filtering alternatives to Smoothwall

I was looking at Sophos UTM prior to Smoothwall coming along. How does it handle the safeguarding/prevent aspect? Can automatic reports be run to cover these "hits"? Robbie -
Has anyone used or heard of M247?
robbie-w replied to Blue_Cookeh's topic in Internet Related/Filtering/Firewall
I assume their still the same people I sold my hosting company to them when they were Open Hosting. Was a Jonathan Buckle in charge -
Morning, Could anyone recommend any other filtering solutions to Smoothwall? Having lots of issues getting support and contract expires next year I believe Specifically looking what other colleges might be using Thanks, Robbie

Running Zoneflex R500 and zf7363 on a zonedirector 3050 version 9.8.2.0 build 15. We have had complaints about laptops being slow and didn't realise at the time that the root issue is the 2.4GHz Wi-Fi band. I sat on numerous laptops with a Wi-Fi point literally within a metre of the devices with only the test devices connected and they all only managed 350kb/s transferring a file. A different laptop connected to the same access point on 5G managed 5-6mb/s Pings are awful sometimes as high as 2 seconds but up and down spiking. Basically 2.4 is unusable at this point in time. We have tried different buildings, different access points and still the same. Out of ideas with it All laptops tested were running either Realtek, Qualcomm or intel N adapters. All running Windows 10 Robbie
