Hello All, I am having difficulty setting up the Moodle-SIMS integration We already have all users set up in active directory. If i am led to believe correct the employeeid is what needs to be set to join LDAP and SIMS What i have done is as follows Using sql 2005, php-cgi.exe on iis Moodle Install and can connect to SIMS LDAP works as i have logged in as some users i have manually set the employeeid on some accounts When i login as the user and click on the timetable it says it can't connect to sims.net Enrolment settings SIMS.net Server Settings enrol_dbtype = mssql enrol_dbhost = 192.168.16.17\sims2005 enrol_dbport = 1427 enrol_dbuser = [user] enrol_dbpass = [sA Password] enrol_dbacyear = 2009 (or current academic year) Connect to mssql page <?php $link = mssql_connect('192.168.16.17:1427\sims2005', '[user]', '[password]'); if(!$link) { echo'Could not connect'; die('Could not connect: ' . mssql_error()); } echo'Successful connection'; mssql_close($link); ?> And that connects fine. Its done via GPO, you'd set it on the OU with all the computers that the students use and then its done on process name. If the students are clever they can renamed there .exe on the memory stick to reflect an ok program and that will let it run though.

Some AV do it too, We use sophos and it supports USB blocking of extensions. But what's stopping the students putting the .exe into there area and running it from there?

we replaced our servers with some 1tb ready NAS boxes and we have had no freezing at all now. get wireshark on the switches to see if anything is broadcasting

we had this issue a few weeks ago, random freezing opening my documents no error logs. 2 weeks later the server died.

Do the client machines HAVE to have 2.0 for it to work? im having some issues the clients are XP SP3 with 3.5 .net and im getting an error in the error logs about 2.0 .net. error 5000

Good but that seems pointless. Why do people need access to memory sticks they all i assume have access to a school email account and can attach send files via that. We have just blocked all drives so that even when its plugged in it wont recognize it as a mass storage device.

Hello all, We have two server rooms and we just purchased some new NAS boxes, i have a widget on my mac that monitors them. We currently have NO AC in the server rooms and the boxes are running at 43* - 47*C Is this dangerously high for them to be on constantly? Thanks

As we are all in the same boat i thought it may of help if on edugeek there was some place we could put all our GPO's that have so we can look at what other IT people do in there setups and maybe help each other out. What do people think?
