Using many SFPs are you using at the moment? +1 for a 3800 series - its effectively the 5400 series but in a fixed port design (if you can afford one) with the full feature set of routing. However......the 2920 series does static routing which would enough in most cases and is much cheaper.

I should be worried if any switch vendor includes such things in plain text. Especially AAA details! -

I don't see why not - having a casual look at the Netgear CLI it appears they support SSH. Worth turning it on and seeing if you can access it through WinSCP If so and you can find a path to a config file then yep it'll work. -

Not a Linux bod so couldn't comment So many ways to go about it; PowerShell (on Windows) is the way for me! -

Have now taken things one step further with a further script which emails you daily with a list of changes Automated Change Detection and Reporting – Network Switches | my world of IT. Again hopefully this will help! -

HP has pretty much the same - I just don't like the idea of using TFTP anymore though -
Are those fields pre populated? If not head to Site administration > Plugins > Authentication > LDAP server and under Data mapping enter the corresponding fields from AD in the boxes provided (e.g. First name is givenName and Email address is mail) and set ‘Update local’ to either On every login or on Creation. You will need to have these fields populated in AD as well……

Can't quite recall what I did to stop that one; by chance does that first page have any red boxes prompting for details?
-
Good old SharePoint Have the same for our staff (students go direct to Moodle) - the staff link on SharePoint has the /my bit at the end so its pretty much seamless when they are inside the network.
-
Thats the expected response for the feature In my case I've got the users IE/Chrome homepage set to http://moodle.schoolname.org/my which takes them to their 'My Home' page on Moodle which also logs them in at the same time.

Oh one more thing; right now you have 10.2.2.40 as your Host URL setting - could you change that to ldap://10.2.2.40 while keeping 10.0.0.0/8 as the network range
-
Give 10.0.0.0/8 a go as your network range (instead of 10.0.0.0/255.0.0.0)
-
Phew that guide looks like a little overkill! No matter though Think you could post screen shots of your config? It certinly needs to be only the auth/ldap/ntlmsso_magic.php file - it can't be the whole site or the folder that ntlmsso_magic.php is in it does need to be just that file.
-
There are a few extra steps you have to do if you want to make it SSO, https://docs.moodle.org/29/en/NTLM_authentication#How_to_Turn_Integrated_Authentication_on is what you are after Note that the settings change in IIS has to only apply to the auth/ldap/ntlmsso_magic.php file.

How about looking at the 5400R zl2 series - they have dual management modules (like the 8200 series) so your only single point of failure (assuming you have dual port modules and dual power supplies) is the chassis which I've never seen fail.
-
Ahh but the switches (and indeed the Wireless APs that are plugged into them are key); when students are paying significant sums of money for the University Education having a sure fire connection the internet is a must. Thus; powering switches 24/7 = very important to me
-
You'd think that Either way though it'd help if we could get them on backup power; expecily the ones that run the Wireless APs given that we are running halls.

Currently working on an infrastructure replacement (wired network switches only) and have a fair chunk of cash left over and was thinking about upping the number of UPSs in comms cabs... To that end does anyone have any suggestions for a relatively compact UPS that can be network managed for a fair price? Switches are a mixture of 24/48 PoE/Non PoE HP 2530 series; not likely to be more than 3 off a single UPS, no particular requirement for runtime just anything long enough to handle a brown out.

They sure are - direct link is https://ukwebsolutionsdirect.co.uk/ They have recently been absorbed into another company (can't recall who off the top of my head) but the service is still the same. -

Sounds good - 6.1.5 went just fine as well a little longer at 5mins 30s before I got any pings back. Cheers for the heads up about 7.0/7.0.1 as well - will hold off for now until the first incremental -

Just spotted that 7.0.1 has been released - only a few days ago though so will hold back on that one for the time being (thanks @gshaw). Went for the upgrade to 6.1.0 just now - took about 4 minutes to reboot so I'm quite happy with that! Shall see how it runs for a day and then give 6.1.5 a go.
