  1. Hi. The Staff have some access to the C:/ drive and the UAC is switched of for pupils
  2. Hi, we recently upgraded our Computing Department computers from XP to Windows 7. We are also starting a Games Design course this year and the Head of Computing wants to use gamemaker. Anyway, I had Gamemaker running and working on Windows XP, but since we moved to Windows 7, I can get game maker 7 to run after changing permissions, however it will not run any games on pupil accounts but will on staff and admin accounts. The message that appears is "Failed to load game data, File seems corrupted". I've tried contacting Yoyo Games, however they no longer support Gamemaker 7. I've also tried using Gamemaker 8, however this version will not even load. Has anyone else had this problem, if so how did you get round it? Any help would be greatly appreciated thanks
  3. Hi One of our HP Laserjet 4100N's required a new maintenance kit. I installed this including the new fuser, and new transfer roller, however the new transfer roller appears to cause the toner to stick to the roller and smear one side of the page, whilst leaving the other side blank. I changed the transfer roller back to the original and it appears to print the left half of a document correctly and the right hand side appears to be fading from the centre out to the edge where it is barely visible. I tried a couple of different fusers as well to see if this would solve the problem, however there is no change. I've also reset the warning message. Can anybody suggest anything to fix this problem?
  4. One of our teachers is trying to open a publisher document which contains pictures using publisher 2000. The document was created using Publisher 2000 approx a year ago. Since then the PC has been upgraded from windows 2000 to XP (service pack 3). When opening the document the following message appears: There is not enough memory to display a picture. Some pictures may display incompletely or not at all. To make more memory availiable, save your work and close other programs then try again. I've tried increasing the availiable memory and it has made no difference.
  5. Hi I'm looking for a bit of advice, my school has a mobile classroom consisting of 16 Dell E5500 laptops and an apple airport extreme wireless hub. Using the hub, a class can gain access to their work area and a materials folder on the network using their usual log on. This worked well in 2 classrooms on the ground floor of our building with only a few minor wobbles for around a year despite the hub only being designed to handle 2 or 3 devides on a local network. However last week, the hub failed and we cannot get anyone in the class to log on to the network using the laptops and with no other accomodation with PC's availiable for the class, it gives us quite a big problem. Can anyone advise the best type of hub that would be able to handle the network traffic of 16 laptops? Your help would be much appreciated
  6. Hi Thanks for the advice, I tried swapping the hard drive with a known good machine and the problem followed. I reimaged the hard disk and the problem disappeared. Thanks again
  7. Hi, this is my first post to these forums. I'm looking for a little bit of help. The school I work in bought some new Dell Optiplex 760's PC's back in March for one of our classrooms. However one of the PCs is no longer recognising the monitor. I have tried plugging the monitor from another PC which I know works into it and the PC doesnt recognise it. I have also tried plugging in the monitor from the faulty PC to one which works. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
