Hi All, I am having a problem getting xacti cg100 cameras to work on our Mac's. We run Snow Leopard and when we connect the Xacti's it recognizes them but that is it. We want to use them with a program called 'I Can Animate' but when I change from the built in camera to the Xacti the image freezes and as it is generally looking at me it doesn't make for a pretty picture! They work fine on Windows PC's with the program. Anyone using these cameras with Mac's? Any ideas? Sanyo suupprt site seems useless. Thanks in advance Mark

Yes, whistler was the codename, its at the log in screen. and refusing remote access, as soon as you put a password in it kicks you out?? Strange.

I have a server 2003 file server that has changed its OS name to 'Whistler'. I can still log into it at the server but I can't log in remotely. I have Googled it but there doesn't seem to be anything out there. The OS was installed from a 2003 disk. Ideas anyone?? Thanks in advance Mark

Cheers, I am looking now. On our server connected the the Internet I changed the DNS address to our providors forwarder and it worked fine, no problem. 'nslookup http://www.somesite.com ISPdnsIP' gave me DNS request timed out. timeout was 2 seconds.

Hi, could do with some help here please! First day back and we have no internet on out student network. I can browse using IP address but not domain name. We use a CA Gateway which is a sideways content filter for net access and this connects with another server that has 'Routing and Remote Access' enabled and is connected to the Internet. DNS passed the simple query but failed the recursive test. Internally it can resolve names. Using NSLOOKUP it can identfy the server running DNS but to websites we get a request timed out message. It all started Friday when we could do google searches for anything but not get to the sites suggester. Help please.. Thanks in advance Mark

Hi, our file server that has a Dell external tape drive attached is now ignoring all our tapes in NTBackup. It sees them as new tapes when they are inserted and won't do restores from them. Not good! I have installed an old version of Veritas Backup exec that we had and thet sees the tapes but goes into a queued state when I try and catalogue them. Anyone come across similar?

Adding the 'Documents' folder and then renaming the folder seems to have worked! Should shut the ICT teachers up for a while at least! Cheers guys

I can browse to the correct folders using the UNC path. We have some Windows 7 clients.

Don't know if anyone has come across this one. I have a number of home directories on our system that had changes their name to 'My Documents'. Now if I change them back to the correct name all the other wrongly named directories change as well?? It doesn't affect users, they connect as normal. Any ideas

Hi, cheers for the help. It was partly an inheritence issue. They can still see them but cant doing anything in there.

Hi, In Windows 7 our kids are accessing everyones home directories through Network in windows explorer. Now I know there has to be a key in group policy to hide this, but can I find it; hell no. does anyone know which one does this please?
-
Yes, I have copied the policy store; I picked that up from another forum yesterday.

We are running 2003 server and a mix of Windows XP and Windows 7 PC's, the '7' PC'a are just not picking up the policies set. The story so far.... I have downloaded RSAT,installed onto a windows 7 machine. Created a WMI filter so the XP GPO's ignore '7' machines. Moved the three suites into their own OU and created a GPO for this group. Pupils can see the local hard drive, get to the control panel and it is a lottery if you can get to your home directory. They seem to ignore any policies set? Anyone had similar problems??

Hi, we have just introduced Windows 7 to our network on 75 nwe PC's. We are using Server 2003 adn are using the policies set up for our existing XP machines. Now some PC's won't give access to users home diectories, the give an Access Denied error as do I as an administrator? On some occassions users get on and see their files but they are denied access. Tis Weird. Anyone come across this? I have downloded and installed 'Remote Server Administration Tools for Windows 7' on a Win 7 machine and am going through that but I don't understand why some machines are fine??? Thanks in advance

Server reboots everyday, similar time?
markman replied to markman's topic in Windows Server 2000/2003
Cheers Bezwick, will shut down today after school and have a play. -
Our PDC (server 2000) has decided to start rebooting daily between 9 and 9:30. There are no logs in event viewer only one saying reboot was unexpected? Really frustrting and not a good time for it. It is an old(ish) Dell Poweredge. Any help much appreciated

The box is a DC and Censornet does authenticate users from it. Cheers Geoff, I'' have a look today.

Hi, we have VMWare sat on Ubuntu Linux that was set up by an external company. Now it runs fine the main problem we have is that the time on the virtual Windows Server is set to sync with Linux (somehow?) and is running and hour or so out. This means our Censornet box won't authenticate pupils which isn't a bad thing but this in turn makes the teachers whinge even more than usual! I am not a Linux user so I am completely lost here, anyone have ideas on where the time will be synching and what do I need to do. I am phoning the compnay later but I know the techie has left that set it up and I have a feeling he has done it as an experiment!!

Just to comment about taking backups offsite, we have ben told by autitors that backups are to stay onsite in a fireproof safe to protect from data theft.
