That is a permissions issue you need to allow write access to C:\Program Files\QCA Testing\Delivery Point System\TDS and any folders below this. It also states this in one of the many manuals of hell provided with the software Nuttygeek

Hello everyone, My problem i currently have is teachers leaving there computers logged on and walking away to do something and forgeting to log off. So my question is simply, Can i force a logoff after 20 minutes of inactivity using AD GP. If so how Cheers in advance Nuttygeek

I had this issue i solve it but allowing full access to the folders that libruim is store in and also to the folders where the database is store as well and then start to lock it back down after i had the site working. NuttyGeek

Just for anyone interested i found an anwser in to go to the registry in safe mode to HKEY_Local_machine\software\microsoft\windowsNT\currentversion\Winlogon and to chance the gina.dll value\from C:\Program Files\symantec\ghost\ginastub.dll to C:\Windows\system32\msgina.dll reboot and wam bam it works! We have around 20 Stone Pc's with Windows XP pro all on a constant reboot they load windows up to just before the log on box and then reboot again. The only thing that has change to them recently is installing ghost client from the the ghost console, after recently having to rebuilding the ghost server. I have tryed to run the xp cd recovery with no luck. Safe mode dosent work either? I doubt that its a virus. Its ghost 7.5 corp. Has anybody come across this before and have a solution? Hi i have had this issue before and reinstalled Xp and hen its been fine, So i would start with a rebuild and then let us know if that doesnt help, i have found it to be bad memory chips in the past, but start with a rebuild. Nuttygeek

Can you ping from your Win 2000 to the AP? If so i asume that its a workgroup you have setup and not a domain network could it be permissions? If you cant ping then ahev you tryed reinstalling the drivers, have you got the latest drivers for it? Nuttygeek

I would also like to highly recommend NEOS they are a great team. I ended up when i went near the beginning of December having one on one tution with Alan who is a top bloke and alway willing to answer any question. I agree with the lunch's I had jacket spud and beans and its more like half a feild of spuds and enough beans to fill the titanic. @ SECMAN y not stay in worcester while on the course as you will say a lot of money at £100 a day so get a b+b, i did and i only live in gloucestershire. I would recommend burgage house about 300 metres from the training centre at £35 a night for a single very very nice. Also there are a lots of pubs and shops in the centre for an evening meal, I ate in the evening at the eagle pub, big steak for £12 including a pint bargin. Also the train station is about a 15minute walk from the centre. Which is on the main line to london. If anybody wants to know anymore just ask. Also i will be there again from the 23-25 of january on another course so see you there. Nuttygeek

hi running the trial install again gave the option to remove so thanks dos_box, should of thought of that myself, oh well. Its installed on a server because we are converting video with it for a new system were setting up and its very processor and ram intensive so we got a new server to do the job. cheers nuttygeek

Hello Everyone and Merry Christmas My Problem is we have installed adobe premiere pro 1.5 trial on are 2003 server and we want to remove it and put on the full version, but when i go to removethe trial version it errors with cannot install because there is a trial version already install. I have already contacted adobe and they have hung up on me 3 times now because there tech support is cr*p. I have tryed to look on google for a removal tool or how to manually remove it with no luck so far. Thanks in advance. Nuttygeek

@andy what make printer servers do you use for £40 and £55 ? I have used D-Link and the hp jetadmin ones that come when you get a network printer from hp.

Hp procurve kit, if you can afford it get it is the best kit for money out there (HP procurve 420)or go with linksys as its a cheap version of cisco systems kit (WAP54G-UK)great AP. We also use 3com kit which is cheap and cheerful but does the job Nuttygeek

@ theshirt, ok you are the exception to my rule with regards the Usb mouse. Well done indeed. @everyone I dident know about the becta recommendation of 50% but we have 95% coverage although it doesent replace wired it just gives a connection in areas that its 2 expensive or difficult to wire, for example we have a remote build that we would have to put fibre into for 5 machines so we used 2 AP's in bridge mode which gives us our connection in there and with excellent results all for under £600. I would never replace wired with wireless but wireless is good for giving access everywhere. We have found that with are trolley of 32 laptops that we get a max of 15 client to an AP. So in my view wireless has its uses but is still a new technology that has its issues. Nuttygeek

We have a trolley of 32 laptops that can be used by the students on our wireless network so they are locked down, and they just log onto the network as though they were using on of the computers in an it room. So this maps there area on the network and give them their permissions as well, all done through AD Group Policy in 2003. Do you have wireless? where will the students be able to use the laptops? How many laptops for hire? where will they be stored/powered/updated? Nuttygeek

Hi People, have run spybot 1.4 and ad-aware although it found some files it has delt with them and it is still suffering from the problem. Any other Ideas? Nuttygeek

HI People we have a big problem and its getting worse, here it is. Its only affected win 2000 machines so far. We have a number of machines that when logged on to blink the startbar up and then disappear and show no icons just the default blue background and only Ctrl Alt Delete will work and allow task manager in which i can see explorer.exe is not running and when i go to run it the startbar again flashes up and disappears again. Have tried the recovery option with a 2000 cd but thats not helped. Have run a virus scan but it doesn't show anything. We have now tried two different reg fixes from the tech net newsgroups which have not helped. All machines have the latest virus definitions. All machines should have the latest windows updates. Ok, We are in the south-west of the country and are behind south-west grid for learning and use them for internet access, using a proxy. the problem we have is we would like to get working, by getting around their firewall or whatever they have in place stopping it, bit torrent and p2p eg limewire. this is purely for educational purposes and nothing else. i have heard of http tunnels would this work or have you any better ideas. cheers for any help in advance. Hi kingswood, I would be greatful for any help you can offer. To explain the problem a little more clearly we want the students to be able to install their usb pen drive with out restricts, but not able to install software or run .exe that are not already install eg. doom95.exe on their pen drive or local area. More important it the restriction of software. We are running a mixture of 2000 and xp clients on server2003 if thats any help.
