Good point and I'd also put everything in that you would take with you, so that you know for definite if you are over/under (eg bikes, watercarriers, food, bedding, clothes, plates etc). There is an art to loading a caravan as well so that it is balanced when on the road, i.e. don't overload the back end or the nose - ideally you want the majority of weight over the axle.

Can I just point out that the 85% rule is not actually a law/rule it is an advisory? I passed my driving test in 2001, and have taken the towing test (B+E) as I have access to a large caravan and a large towing vehicle, as well as towing horses and horse trailers. So long as caravan mam does not exceed car mam, and both combined gross weight do not exceed 3500kg including all occupants and luggage then you will not need to take the additonal test. Best thing to do is take it down to your local public weighbridge to find out (I'd also take someone with you who passed their test before 1997 so they can drive back if it's over the 3500kg mark). My route into IT was IT GCSE, Computing A-Level, Computer Science Degree, year in industry as a Student Desktop Support Technician (part of my degree), then various IT support roles for the last 5 years. Have tried all of that and still no joy. Only domain admins can authenticate. So still confused.

We currently have it so that all users can authenticate - followed the wizard to configure the policy rules. Checked the log and the only time we get any errors/events is when the local administrator account tries to authenticate/get an IP Address. edited to add: have also tried group specific and machine specific policies but no joy. another edit to say that we can login fine on an xp sp2 laptop. so its something to do with sp3 I think. To me its pointing towards security but I'm unable to identify where/what.

Interesting problem which has been driving me and the guy who installed the Wireless network nuts. We've recently installed a Trapeze wireless network, using an MX-Switch and Trapeze MP-82's. We've installed Network Policy Server and the certification server that is also required (Windows 2008 SP2 domain controllers). Clients are running XP SP3. We've configured the Network Policy Server to use PEAP MS-Chap-v2. The problem we have is that only domain admins can login and get an IP address, normal user's can't - it fails to authenticate and get an IP address. We've tried a radius ping from the Mx-Switch and that responds fine and authenticates. This has really got us puzzled. We've got it logged with Trapeze as well, but just thought I'd see if anyone else has come across this before?!?

Just been given the requirements for the Level 2 Functional Skills exams for next year which will take place in 2 parts - part a with access to the Internet and ability to send emails, and part b with no internet access, not able to send and receive emails but still able to use Outlook or Outlook Express. All within the same 1 hour and 45 minutes. Disabling Internet during the exam we think we have covered (will test using LanSchool's ability to block web thoroughly before the exam takes place). However we're going to be a bit stumped when it comes to the Email disabling of send/recieve but not the usage of email itself. Why can't exam boards think of these things when they dream up the exams? Can we get a technical person onto each exam board for all computer exams please so that we're not faced with these challenges every year!

I had a breakthrough this morning, when I discovered this article relating to vista but seems to apply to 7 as well. I solved my printer mapping problem by going in to the local group policy editor and under computer configuration -> administrative templates, clicking on Printers. Then double click on Point and Print restrictions and selecting enabled. THen under when installing drivers for a new connection, select Do not show warning or elevation prompt. Then under when updating drivers for an existing connection, select do not show warning or elevation prompt. Click ok. This has solved my black screen of death for all users when logging in to windows 7 (the only way I could get in previously was to press shift key 5 times to bring up the sticky keys dialog). I've had this problem when logging on as a domain user on my Win 7 test box....I think mine is caused by mapping printers using a vbs script (yet the network drive mapping works fine) - I only found this solution today (so renamed pc to something that isn't in our script) and its working fine. So now I need to investigate mapping network printers dependent on machine name... hope this helps, Amy

currently living with me: Juno the Springer Spaniel (also known as 'oi you lil' ***' or Worm) and the gerby-boys (gerbils that belong to my sister and are nameless) living at my parents house: Jasmine (mum to my springer) and Wigga (real name Jupiter, brother of mine from same litter), the cats: Teazle, Whiskey Mac (ginger cat), Holly, Bramble and Daisy. And the chook called Tikka (or she might be Masala - she's the last of the curries left - we had 8 chickens at one point all named somethign to do with chicken..) Also got a horse called Paris and I used to have a horse called Milo. Past cats have included: Cleo, Willow, Hazel, Pebbles, Black Cat and we used to have a mongrel dog called Sparky. Not sure how we ended up with so many animals apart from my mum used to work for a vet (where most of the cats came from)

to be honest, I don't think my boss will let us go down the route of vmware server and remote desktop. I will explore it though and see what comes up from it. Any more ideas? Anyone actually succeeded in doing this for the students?

thanks for that, however we need them to be able to save work to and from the virtual machine, and leave the machine in a 'clean' state so that multiple students can use the same image if that makes sense?

Has anyone managed to create a Virtual PC running Windows XP (and secure it so that students can't take a copy of it) so that Students can run Visual Studio 2008 with full admin privileges as part of one of the Computing A Levels this year. We've tried Virtual PC 2007 and VMware player, just can't seem to get it locked down enough. Help! We need this for the start of term and are running out of ideas.... Thanks, Amy

the problem is it's at the back above the boot, so fit a new one will have to strip pretty much the whole of the headlining and trim. have contemplated a glass mount replacement but not sure how good it would be?

1 we've already tried no 1 to cut a small slot in top, didn't work v well and 2 i think you're the 3rd, possibly 4th person to recommend harris's in Nutbourne (one of my technicians at college recommends them as well, he's always down there getting bits for his car lol). if we can't get the half screw out this weekend then i think it will be a replacement job and will have to wait for boyfriend to come back from mongolia (he's off on a charity drive out there in july) so that he can sort out what he broke lol

at dad's suggestion i've just been out and measured it and he's going to check out the jml ones in wilkinsons for me as its 4mm so don't think the screwfix ones will do it unfortunately

will see what boyfriend and dad think before purchasing, i think the jml ones might be better as could 'put' a screw head so to speak as already got the beginnings of one courtesy of my dad. hmm wonder if wickes do them as could go and have a look at the ones that screwfix do before purchasing to make sure the smallest one will fit in.
