Fingerprint readers in that situation are really expensive and easy to get around. Someone could kick the door in and you'd still be none the wiser. Ideal solution is to use a camera that can cover the whole area. Mobotix Q24 gives a 360 degree angle, so can cover several cubicles from the outside. Obviously you need to be careful with placement, but we have had considerable success in schools with this sort of problem. Other benefits are the camera is self contained, can sit directly on your network, is powered by PoE and comes with free software. Oh and the picture quality is like watching TV.

A simple answer is for you to upgrade your Backup Exec to the latest version and to put in something like Overland NEO 200s with 2 x LTO-4 drives (preferably SAS rather than SCSI). You don't say how much data you have or how many slots you have in the PV124T (8 or 16). But the NEO 200s with 12 or 24 slots should be plenty using LTO-4 as this has 4 times the capacity of the LTO-2. The LTO-4 drives will allow you to read your existing LTO-2 backup tapes and using 2 drives will allow you to run 2 backup jobs at the same time, decreasing your backup times even if the individual backups themselves don’t get any faster. Using a newer version of Backup Exec will also allow you to specify larger block sizes for the backups, which really helps with the faster drives.

Agree with DHicks in your situation I think a NAS would be best solution and concentrate your budget on the actual storage. The new Overland Snapserver DXI1000 fits the bill and is very cost effective. I will pm you details.

Have a look at the mobotix Q24 camera. It gives a 360 degree view of the whole room when mounted on the ceiling, so you don't need multiple cameras or get blindspots. Also comes with a 4GB micro SD card for internal recording. Paul Net-ctrl

Great thing about Mobotix M12 day/night external camera mentioned above is that it has fantastic resolution of 3.1 megapixel, most IP cameras are around 0.4 megapixel equivilent. Also has onboard SDHD slot so you can record internally upto 32GB, more than enough for the type of recording you want.
