Thankyou tacktick, that has done the trick for us. Had to add a couple of entries but on reboot of the clients, Flash successfully installed to the latest version using GPO Application Assignments. Saved me a lot of headaches. Stephen

Hello, A few months ago I came across a small Windpws app called Granola (Granola - Intelligent Power Management for Windows and Linux). It aims to reduce power consumption of the PC processor when it does not need it. I've done a few tests and have a few questions if anyone else has used this with an aim or reducing power costs... 1. I've tested on various laptops, but these have built in power saving features so it doesn't really seem to make that much difference in battery life time. I've tested with BatteryMon and actually testing battery life on two laptops. 2. I can see it being much more useful for PCs. If run on a PC (Windows XP), is there anything I can use to test the power usage of the CPU to see if this is worthwhile installing. 3. Is anyone else using it either the free version or the enterprise version, I would be interested in your thoughts. Thanks, Stephen Fletcher

Hello, Does anyone use the Lynx Interactive Whiteboard software from Sahara (Lynx PDI Educational Software)? We are looking at using this as it works with multiple interactive products rather that being tied into a set board provider. I'd be interested in your thoughts good or bad.

Same problem here. Use Process Explorer to check what is running beneath svchost.exe (and just disable that service not the whole process): http://www.microsoft.com/technet/sysinternals/ProcessesAndThreads/ProcessExplorer.mspx I found that for some reason an update wasn't being installed on a client becasue svchost.exe and the Windows Update Agent were at 100% CPU usage crippling the machine.. Running the Windows update through Internet Explorer directly with Microsoft, downloading the update and installing that partcular patch this way, fixed the problem. Hope this helps. Stephen

We had a similar problem that effected all offic 2003 program exept Word. It was due to the proxy authentication box, hiding behind the office application, making it look as if the OS had frozen. I guess that's one approach but if you cant touch the proxy, I guess it's a bit harder.

Hello, If anyone could shed some light into this problem, it would be much appreciated. It's been driving me crazy for months. It's a problem with Office 2003 running on Windows XP. When a user uses a office application to search for clipart on the web, the proxy authentication box appears behind the office app without the use realising. This gives the impression that the PC has crashed. Symptoms occur on all tested mahines (Dell OptiPlex GX60 and GX52). Sysmptoms DO NOT occur on Dell Optiplex GX620 (which is what is really annoying me!). To reproduce: 1. Goto "Insert" Menu ---> Picture ---> Clipart 2. Do a search using a keywork ensuring that it is including web collections. 3. Proxy Authentication dialog box will apear. Then either: a) Click on the document area while Auth popup box is displayed. The popup will stay, but move your mouse over the top of the Dialog Box and it disapears. or b) Move the scroll wheel on the mouse when the popup box appears, then left click on the document area, the popup will disapear. Effected Office Applications are Excel, Publisher, Powerpoint, and Infopath. Word is suseptable, however it behaves slightly differently in that you can click on the Word process on the taskbar, Word will minimize and the Authorisation dialog box will appear. Access does not have clipart functionality. Upgrading the video driver to latest version (same as GX2017) for test machine GX5214, had no effect. Mouse drivers are the same on all machines. Workaround: Pressing ALT+TAB to scroll through open windows does work, however is not ideal as users will often not try this. Office XP not affected by this problem. IE7 Makes no difference to symptoms. All Office updates / patches have been installed, ruling out suggestion at http://support.microsoft.com/kb/843607/en-us Thanks to anyone who can help.

We use a very customised version of Liberum that includes scheduling tasks, ajax knowledge base searching, new reports, and various other tweeks. It is very easy to alter to fit your needs if you know VBScript / ASP and would recommend it to anyone. If you do use it, I would recommend you opt for using the SQL database first of all, because if after many customisations, it can be a a bit trick to switch over from Access if your not to carefull.
