Introduction: We reserve the right to make an appointment before the closing date, so early applications are encouraged. We are looking for a full-time IT technician to join our IT department at Strathallan School. This is a permanent appointment, working 35 hours per week Monday to Friday 8.30am to 4.30pm with some out of hours and weekend work required on occasion. This is an excellent opportunity to work with a wide range of industry-leading technologies as well as the ability to develop the skills to use them. You will learn about a very large enterprise network consisting of Applications-aware firewalls, Exchange email, Windows Operating systems, and a wide array of AV such as interactive whiteboards. You can find more information here https://www.strathallan.co.uk/vacancies

Hi Nickbro, I have checked the documentation from here https://www.codeplex.com/Download?ProjectName=hap&DownloadId=829460 and there is no mention of OneDrive in there.
-
Hi Nick, Can you tell me where the documentation is regarding OneDrive please?

Hi Steve, Thanks for the suggestion, but not exactly what we are looking for as we would end up creating far too many AD users for this. Plus, notifications would be good. I know I am possibly asking for quite a bit of work, but just thought I would inquire re the further development on HAP+

IIS and directory browsing is not very secure, I was thinking along the lines of sharing files with 3rd parties, for the likes of projects and collaboration, as I said much like Dropbox where you can share a file or folder and users get an email when the file or folder is updated. We have been testing this software Education | Foldr - Free your files and it is quite good but does not allow the end user to upload to the shared folder. I have spoken with the developers and they are going to release a new version in January which will allow this. I just like the fact that HAP+ is free and an excellent product.

Filtering and firewall

have you looked at Palo Alto,Network Security we are using this at our boarding school and must say that we have used Sonicwall, Websence and smoothwall in the past, but this device out performs them all. Especially with application management. Allow the application regardless of the web site=perfect. We have only a small list of blocked web sites on the device.- 74 replies

Who uses what proxy server inside their network?
babagee replied to DCS's topic in Internet Related/Filtering/Firewall
We are using the Palo Alto PA-500. absolutely brilliant firewall as it is application aware. Great as you do not have to worry about opening ports or lots of rules. Just allow the program access and that is it. Link here Palo Alto Networks | PA-500 Next-Generation Firewall -
Hi, How did you get on with the rsop.msc? Are you still needing help with this or have you fixed it? You can look at these links, they are for win2000 but that does not matter as WinXP is the same anyway. Below is how we do the folder redirection at the school. \\nas\applicationdata\a folder is created in this dir for every user \\nas\desktop\2006\ all users in the OU 2006 gets this desktop \\nas\profilesman\ all pupils get this mandatory profile \\nas\userdirs\schoolyear here ie: 2006\username gets created in this directory ie: joebloggs\and in here it creates a folder called joebloggs documents so it would look like this \\nas\userdirs\2006\joebloggs\\joebloggs documents\ \\nas\\desktop\2006\ \\nas\ProfilesMan\Pupilsprofile\ \\nas\Applicationdata\2006\joebloggs\ HOW TO: Assign a Mandatory User Profile in Windows 2000 HOW TO: Assign a Mandatory User Profile in Windows 2000

Hi, Make sure the users' profiles' folder structure has a "Desktop", "My Documents", and any other folder that you use redirection with. Even if you create these folder on a temp basis to see if you can get this to work. The fdeploy.dll that comes with SP3 handles folder redirection differently and will error out if the profile does not have those folders. Cheers.... Cheers.

Hi rocknrollstar, Even with mandatory roaming profiles (we use these also) it does create a profile in the documents and settings folder for every user that logs on to the computer. Can you run rsop.msc from the start\run command when logged into the computer as a student and see if it is picking the group policy up. Clear the event log and reboot the computer first and then check the event log to see what error folder redirection is giving you. Are you getting the error regarding internet explorer rebranding? Cheers...

Hi, We had the same problem here at the school with 120 computers. The resolution I found that worked was, as you have done, copy the fdeploy.dll, but we also had to delete all local profiles on the computer. We used delprof with psexec to delete all the profiles. Hope this helps as I spent ages with this error and Microsoft is no help either with this problem.
