I think the parameter I'd changes on each system, and when you change the report - have you checked it's definitely correct? Also, see if the report runs correctly from within sims.

Compatibility view, or change the user agent string to make it look like an older browser. If SLG doesn't recognise the UA, I think it automatically serves the mobile view

I agree with @CAM - not having the results will have zero impact on your census return (check the data on COLLECT to confirm this); but if the results don't show, it could mean you're sending the wrong data in. If you return a student as having learning aim X, and they actually certify on aim Y instead, I think that's identified as a failed learning aim. If a student has four aims, and fails one, that will cost your school 500 quid!

I find the whole conditions-vs-notes thing a bit odd, to be honest. It can confuse staff at all levels, and makes reporting somewhat challenging. I think it's the kind of thing that people tend to access on a per-student basis, as it's not well-suited to mass reporting

I think the thing to remember is that you don't manage sims by accessing the database directly; you have to use the tools provided so that all the data is managed correctly behind the scenes. It's not as straightforward as you'd think! For instance, just to pull together an analysis of assessment, conduct and attendance data, I have to join together around 20 separate sims reports, which are based on more underlying tables than that. A lot of what sims does is extremely complex, and accessing individual parts would be liable to break something!

You could export the data from nova though - it lets you export as both CSV and XML

I don't think you can - spent ages trying this a couple of years back, and it looks like they don't show in the underlying views

Oh dear. Not what you'd expect! My analysis stuff is based on an export of AM7 data, but for exams I use the pi output so I'm safe on this one the other way is to risk it by copying into an exams resultset and then deleting all the results sharpish, I suppose...

Not even exam aspects and resultsets? I know you have to cheat a bit to get an assessment aspect with an exam resultset, but it'd be interesting to see how that ones handled

I think the embargo would apply to the relevant exams result set, so you might find that values in that resultset would still be hidden in marksheets. Don't know though. That said, you could do the analysis in excel using the output from pi reports.

If you're converting a decimal to an integer, adding 0.5 should then work. Sims truncates values rather than rounding them (last time I checked) It'll only give you two decimal places of precision though

When you do any kind of average grade calculation, you need to add half the grade width onto the value before converting back. So 3 points for GCSEs, 15 for A2, 3 for a ks2/ks3 level, and one point for a sub level scale

You can manually name the class as something else from the Class process in nova, if the precise name is an issue

Yes, it's in sims. For the curriculum assignment window you can right-click the column headings and choose "add scheme", and select the relevant block but put in an older effective date to show which groups students used to be in. After that, sort by the column, select a class worth of students at a time and put in the "new" class

You can use the academic promotion routine to copy the memberships across though (or use the curriculum assignment window and show the previous membership)

You generally have to get it through the official channels, as it's commercial software. Ask your LA!

Normally if I were changing the name of a period, I'd change the cycle too. I doubt it will work otherwise (as you are discovering ) To do this, send through a cycle with an extra period in it, starting say tomorrow, and then apply timetable (just to be safe); then send another with the actual cycle you want, starting Sunday (and then apply timetable). The change in number of periods makes sure that SIMS "knows" that the cycle has changed; in previous versions of SIMS, not doing this meant that SIMS just continued the old cycle through. Normally this kind of thing is best done outside of school hours! Because it impacts on lesson monitor, your best scenario is that it slows people down or boots them out of SIMS, and the worst scenario is that something breaks. It's all fixable though, so don't panic

I've been working on something like this at my school for quite a while now. It's very much a non-trivial task! Throw in a couple of job role changes and slight restructures, and it's on about it's fifth or sixth iteration now. I'm expecting to change it during (and as a result of) the current one. There are a few tasks that apply generally to all schools, but so much of it is dependent on your business processes that it's hard to translate it into another school from scratch. Good luck!

It takes a few minutes normally, as it's updating ALL the attendance data (both for lessons and sessions) for the time period going forwards. The other thing to remember, is that marks entered in advance will need to be re-entered too (or at least, it always used to work that way). Have you changed the number or type of any of the periods in the cycle? If so, you'll need to do something else as well to make it work.

Did you run "Apply Timetable" from Lesson monitor after sending through the new data from Nova?
