Since we came back for the new term samlearning.com has been dog slow here and at home. can some users please test samlearning.com and post any findings good or bad i have noticed that they have now gone to a secure site which does slow things down abit but not enough to make you fall asleep waiting for it to load. it takes 64 seconds at my house to load the page thats on a 10 meg connection. same at school which leads me to believe the site has issues. Latest java and flash installed also Thanks in advance

BBC iPlayer - Home latest flash and they are away. don't install stuff if you do not have to as they become a pain when they need updating

I installed manually as part of a fresh image. just looks like it does not have permission to run swf via IE white screen with error sign at the bottom left (changed to allow activ x to run etc in security settings) still no joy. will try the reg fix posted earlier on monday. if it works i will post results.

Small issue with IE7 opening swf files I have Flash and shockwave installed (which i believe are browser plugins) All flash shockwave enabled websites work perfectly. some of our teachers have .swf file resources that when they double click them the system asks what they want to open the file in (no association). Fixed this by using an old verson of the player and reassociated to that exe in the program files folder. this works for now but i would like them to open in ie7 by default My problem lies with IE7 if i use the open with internet explorer they will not load all i get is a white screen with a triangle in the bottom left hand corner. Has anyone come across this or fixed this problem. IE7 has been so bad for us here no end of problems. OS is Win xp pro with sp 3 latest flash and Shockwave plugins am i missing something so simple

shortcut not working properly??
round2it replied to mikeymike's topic in Network and Classroom Management
dont know but do you have any entrys in the application data folder as you migt have a issue with access to that folder only say this a i had a similar prob with activ studio 2 and activote registrations not saving for teachers but they did for the administrator i changed the permissions in the application data folder and it works fine now......(weird) dont know if this helps but it is something else to try. -
when i installed pin studio i had to input codes to get extra features or something along those lines you might want to contact Pinnacle to see if this is the case. Good Luck

BTW the icon changes back to the IE6 version (who cares) but i know some end users complain is anything is different tested on three machines and it works perfectly rest of the day fixing this i need to test all the machines so i think i will do it manually.
-
I tried that first and it failed to rectify the problem but i was clutching at straws so i did it again and it fixed the problem just to mention everyone installing ie8 fixed the issue but i did notice that outlook web access asked for the username and password of the user which did not happen in ie6 or 7 but hey let me get this problem sorted out. Thankyou again I did google the problem for hours and i did see the mentioned fix but it did not work first time i am going to test it on all the other machines and i will post my results. D

but the machines have been fine for 5-6 months why now does it reer its ugly head if i create a shortcut to ie7 manually it works no problem but the icon created by windows itself just creats a shortcut. Anyone else got a solid fix for this? Thanks for the quick reply guys.

Currently i have around 70 pcs that have been fine for months but now when you click on the IE7 icon it creates a shortcut to ie7. has anyone found a fix for this as the only way i have found to get rid of the problem is to flatten the machines. we have mandatory profiles here and it also affects the administrator level on the pc (no Profile) any help would be much appretiated. Cheers.
