Work for a state funded cooperative that works with schools throughout my state (NJ) We have a service where we manage the social media accounts for these schools. Right now the school gives each person assigned access with that persons personal FB account I hate this. I researched and it looks like FB business manager is the way to go. The lead of the team that runs this service has said that they looked into it and the districts would need to recreate their pages and we would have to own them. This seems opposite of everything I have read about business manager Anyone using it to manage multiple schools?

We work with a large number of school districts who we helped deploy SCCM. A lot of these schools have seen a 50 -90 percent reduction in windows desktops as they roll out Chromebooks and or Ipads. Anything available that will let them manage all of these devices from one place? A lot of them feel like SCCM is great, but now we went from 1000 WD to 100 WD and 900 Chromebooks so why pay for SCCM and a Lightspeed or other MDM

I was asked to build a ADLDS server that would import accounts thru MS FIM from two school districts AD's. We will then connect our Cisco Jabber to the LDS. When I try to connect I am being asked for the DN of a user to connect to the LDS with. I installed the ADLDS server as just a standalone server with no joins to any Domain. I created a user in the LDS and put it in the administrators group in LDS but when I try to login it seems like the password is wrong. I have set the password as well. Is there a trick to building a LDS server and having a user in the LDS as a management user without having it in or running Active directory? Or should I just try to build the LDS in linux. I am pretty noobish when it comes to Directory stuff.

Hello all. We have a Xenapp 6 farm that we use to publish a few apps out to various local schools. We are using WI with Secure Gateway and it works great. Districts have started to roll out Chromebooks. So I need to be able to give the Chromebooks access. I am playing with a VPX demo and storefront. Does anybody know if they will work if my STA and XML port

Sorry to hijack this. Does anyone know if the 70-410 covers R2 or just 2012 As far as studying goes. I found the MS press books were decent I just took 70-680 and 70-685 What worked best for me is downloading test kings or similar. Taking them. Seeing where I am failing and studying those topics. Do not use the test kings as only source a lot of times the answers are incorrect and not relevant I am going to build a lab next week and hope to take the 70-410 mid september

I have a older app that I publish with Citrix. When the student logged into server 2003 a login script runs and sets a bunch of paths and other variables. 1 is no longer working reg add "HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Environment /v sas.user /t REG_EXPAND_SZ /d %username% /f It never gets loaded into the registry on the new server 2008R2 boxes. IF I login and then run the line from a command prompt it creates the reg entry. I was told to create a .reg file and try that for Vista and up but I am having trouble with that as well. I keep getting the reg entry created but instead of the username I just get asian characters. Hello all, I have a Student management and reporting app that I publish thru Citrix Xennapp The app has the ability to export the files into excel. It does this by sending the file to a temp folder and opening the file in IE9 IE 9 then ask every time to Open, Save or Save as the file. No option to remember setting. Looking for a way to make IE 9 always just open all xls files instead of asking Can't find a way with GPO. Maybe in the registry? Id like it to be for all users if possible. Also I can't seem to be able to stop the Setup IE 9 windows from displaying when a new user logs in and ask for compatibility settings I tried in GPO to set IE to import settings but I still get that pop up.

The path to the folder will not exist until they log in with the script the first time. Right now when I use add the path in the Remote Desktop Services Profile section in AD it auto creates the folder named after the users username. So I need the script or gpp to create the users home folder as well as create a temp folder in the home folder. Right now not everybody gets a home folder just certain groups. So I was hoping that when a user joined that group they would get the group policy and it would take care of creating the needed folders. I think gpp is the way to go looking at it but I have to play a bit.

I will check into that . They will be logging into Server 2008R2. I have not played around with Group Policy preferences much.

Is it possible to script the creation of a folder for users with a GPO or login script that will map an "M" drive. I am setting it in the AD tab now but the problem is the users also need a folder called Temp in that M drive right now I just populate the home folder field in Remote Desktop Services Profile with \\servername\Home\%username%

To answer my own question I installed adminpak on a xp Virtual machine in the domain and was able to get in. Then I unchecked Start the following program at Logon in the environment tab. If I check the environment tab from a 2008R2 box it is unchecked from the XP it is checked.

I am having a issue with accounts I create when I add a remote deskto services profile path and or home folder it causes that accounts published Xenapp6 accounts to launch a desktop with the error " You have started windows explorer in your ICA seamless session. This will obscure your local explorer desktop. I have seen other people have this and a few of them point to creating and or editing the user account from a 2003box How exactly would I do this. Do I need a specific mmc plugin. I got a adsiedit.msc and cleared a area that was listed and was able to launch my app but it clears the remote desktop home folder path as well. I am going to put a call into MS and talk to them but would like to be able to view and edit from 2003 so I can move forward and also so I can show MS a problem. Apparently from 2003 a field is populated that can't be seen from 2008

Hi all I have about 3000 Citrix but at any single point in time usually will have 3-400 users active. They use a app that exports a spreadsheet and opens excel. The app they use is hard coded to excel.exe it will not work with OO.org or Excel Viewer. Do I need to get a Lic for just the Windows servers that has excel on it plus all my users. OR Can I just buy lets say 25 Excel licensees. I figure about 1 % of my active users will use the export feature so excel will not be opening that often. MS is giving us different stories one of them being we need a per user lic for every user we have in AD We are a School and get School pricing but still 17 a user * 6500 Users in my AD is pricey.

I set it up yesterday. Took about 3 hours. It was very easy. Next one I do should be a lot faster. My setup was a tad more difficult because my server R2's were also Vsphere VM's. With the Vmware instructions and the MS it went OK. The only thing I was unclear on was when to format the disk I presented from my san. Also did not know I needed 2 1 for quorum and 1 for cluster data. Next I think I will try a 2 node 1 psychical , 1 virtual or 2 virtual 1 physical 3 node. I failed over a few times today with no issues and plan on putting a few high use low priority shareson it to test it out next week.

I am building 2 Server 2008R2 VM's that I want to make into a fail over Cluster. This will be my first cluster. It seems that each box gets a IP and they share a virtual ip when they are clustered. When they are up and I create the share do I point to the virtual IP or can I use the servers name. If I go bu name does the cluster get a virtual name? If not how does it fail over to the 2nd node ? What I am doing is building a server that will house the home folders for our domain. We do not home folders now so this will be new. I figured 1 server should handle it ( They only need 100MB each) then if 1 server fails the cluster will fail over to the other server and the students will not loose there shares.

Does the OCS and GLPI let you add individual devices like Mice and Keyboard which we also need to keep track of. I have looked into a number of things that do this. Right now I am playing with Racktables which is open Source and lets you keep track of devices n a rack. I also am using OpenAudit to keep track of what software is installed. Open Audit will also give you info such as Model,Serial number Drives . Can also set purchase price and warranty info. Can I do rack info with OCS/GLPI What I would love is something where I could search for a device have it bring up a info page about the device with details like I listed with Open audit was well as other info like. System has 3 NICS. Nic 0 and 1 are connected to port 22 and 32 in Cisco 3750 Switch A in rack 7 set to LACP. With a link to show all the software loaded, where I can click the name of some piece of software like Office 2007 and have it tell me 129 Machines have Office 2007 then a note that says I have 130 Licenses of O2K7. With Open Audit and racktables I can create notes but not very detailed. I would love to be able to have a file I keep on the server that the software reads. Then when I am working on a server I can update info like Installed Update 5. Changed path to X Then have that info show up in a documentation field. Racktables is also able to keep track of what IP addresses are being used. That is where we found it when looking for something better then the spreadsheet we were using.

I want to give my users the ability to change a password more then once a day but want to limit the amount of times they can do so. Preferably 2 times. Does anyone know if it is possible to set this in a gpo some how? I only see options to set min age on password

It seems it has changed in Vista and server 2008. I have not used a LTO Autoloader but we have Commvault here and I like it. It does a decent job and have agents for lots of different applications such as Sharepoint and SQL It is I believe expensive

Yes I made sure to import the ADM in. It is listed in Add/Remove templates. The other AD admins have asked that I not edit the system.adm file I found a tool on a link from this site called Group Policy Drive Options but I am unsure if it will work with 2008

I am trying to Hide Drive letters A,b,c,d, and E. I created a new adm file and imported that into my GPO. When I look at the GPO setting for Hide these specified drives in My Computer I do not have a listing for abcde just the default drive letters. I am putting the adm file in Windows/inf Am I missing something.
