Hi, Does anyone have or know of a way to audit changes made to group policy? The more free the better. Reason is that our support department has gotten bigger recently and we are struggling to keep track of changes that are made to it, thus making change management and problem solving difficult.

MS Terminal Server Sessions
Jonny_sims replied to Jonny_sims's topic in Thin Client and Virtual Machines
just wanted to update my situation. i have disabled the clock with no change to the problem. I have since found that the Csrss.exe process is running in each session, i have tried to apply the hotfix mention in this kb article, however it simply says i have a newer service pack installed and wont go any further. -

on my terminal server i have some sessions which aren't disconecting correctly (they show there state as being "down"). i think a build up of these is causing the server to crash. however when i try and force them to reset the following error comes up, session reset failed (Error 7024 - the requested operation cannot be completed because the terminal connection is currentl busy processing a connect, disconect, reset, or delete operation.) tried searching the web for this error code without much joy and was hoping someone might have come across this before and be able to help me out.

Does anybody know of a way to backup the publishing points in windows media server?

Ive been to Djanogly and it doesnt work. the batterys are all shot on the tablets so they have to be pluged in all the time, they can only logon/off 5-10 at a time or the network crashes, the kids don't know how to use the tablets correctly, i.e i saw one kid using the stylus on the screen whist the notebook was in its conventional open position. and last but not least the teachers dont use the wireless projectors to there full potential, they allways dock to use them. we are a one school pathfinder for bsf and have had to fight tooth and nail for addaquate space for support staff and computer suites. luckly the smt's respect our knowledge and guidence so back us up with what we have to say. good news is that there will be no managed services

been using the inbuilt media server from server 2003 for just over a year, got quite alot of our schools videos on there for streaming around the school. my problem is keeping an up to date backup. We are currently taking a ghost to take an image of the server, which isnt very efficient as we can only do this during school holidays. does anyone know of anyway to take a backup of the pubilshing points, with either backup exec 10d or windows backup. any help would be useful.

thanks for all your help. It has saved be about a weeks work going round manully deleting printer
-
i have tried the script, it runs through without errors but does not delete the printers.
-
the port names should be "IP_ip of the printer" which is just the standard that windows setsup.
-
ric's script only removes network printers which are on a print server. i have network printers that go directly to the printer from the computer.
-
hi all, Here's the situation. We are moving away from a localy managed tcp/ip printers to a central print server, for printer usage monitoring. I have used ric's script to add the networked printers to the computers at startup, but i want to save a bit of time and have it delete printers on tcp/ip ports, but keep printers on other ports. this is because we use cutepdf and we have a printer setup to print directly to reprographics, i also dont want to interfere with any printers that staff have setup on there laptops for home use. So to sumerise i need some help with a vbscript to delete all printers on tcp/ip ports only. Thanks for your help

its not just laptops, seams to be most xp machines. wireless yak!! :x

thanks for all your help. yes when i move the laptop around then it works in one section then move it back and it stop working again. driving me round the bend now.
