Thanks so much the next up is a BIOS mod for a ThinkPad T61 and see if I can get it to a semi-modern state of functionality while maintaining some 00's charm

I recently found out about UMPC's and Microsoft's project origami from the 00's and realised that they look kind of like modern gaming handhelds. So I did what any sensible person would - I bought one, I upgraded it, I attempted to game on it, and I made a video about it and put it on YouTube. I loved making it, and loved getting back onto Windows XP. If you fancy having a look at it and how the process went, I've linked the video below. 2007's 'Steam Deck' was built by Samsung

Honestly I'd guess that it will be really popular as a College/Uni laptop, and could just act as a "gateway drug" into the apple ecosystem. Could also see it being a popular business laptop for those who are frustrated with how Microsoft has been behaving recently. It's stepping on the toes of lower-end windows machines much more than on Chromebooks. For me I'm seeing it as a positive next step to see full Mac OS on iPad - as they're proving it can run on the A18 Pro processor. Disappointing that user upgradability/repairability is next to none, but then again Apple left that somewhere in the late 00's/early 10's.

Currently re-reading the Guards series for the umpteenth time but I've been looking at re-reading Truckers, Diggers and Wings for the same reason - his writing is masterful.

Intrigued to see people's thoughts on Aluminium OS - Google's new desktop version of Android "coming soon ltd." If you've not seen it there's a bit of information here: https://aluminium-os.com/aluminium-os-first-look-leaked/ and I've attached a screenshot as well. It feels like it could really shake up the market, especially if they launch desktops running this.

I absolutely second this. I've recently taken a backwards step and got a 2014 Citigo and it is wonderfully simple. I'm keeping physical buttons and knobs for as long as I'm able to, dumb cars only.
