Thanks. I think we missed the boat here. Their meeting was Tuesday. But they did leave it until the last minute to ask me.

I've been working wit SIMS for 15 years, without its little niggles it wouldn't be SIMS. But my Helpdesk days finish next Tuesday lunchtime.

Great. We get this call every couple of months. :-)

I saw a Yodel van pull up outside my flat. The driver got out, opened the back, grabbed the end of a parcel which was obviously a flat screen TV, pulled it out, bounced it on the ground. To be fair, maybe he didn't see the 'Do Not Drop' lettering as it was only about 3" high in two directions. -
That is what I assumed. I did tell the school to call SchoolComms to make sure.

Thanks, what I'm after is what do you actually do to send the text, i.e click Send from the detention. Sorry if I didn't make it clear, but the school left it until just before a meeting to clarify what I sent a couple of days ago.
-
The school are only, initially, wanting to know about Detention texts
-
You can txt a letter home?
-
Can anyone tell me the procedure/sequence for notifying a parent of a detention?
-
My thoughts exactly, up until they are about 35.

This thread wouldn't last 5 minutes in the US, they seem to have a much higher regard for their Fire Service than many people here. especially if anyone thinks a Fire Person would not risk their lives if attending a school fire but have a blasé attitude of 'There's probably no one in there, so let it burn, were off for tea and bickies.@ Seriously. I despair. We all have our jobs, let the Fire Service do theirs. If The combined Fire Services in this country don't think it is necessary to have a thing called a Fire Register maybe we should trust that one is not needed and stop trying to tell them their job.... or not? Simple facts. Don't need one. Won't be any use to have one. They would not be accurate. They would be ignored. They won't save lives. They are a complete waste of time.

Sounds like it still is.

I now think we have enough material for the Monty Python School Fire sketch. I'm off to claim my script writing fees from Mr J Cleese...

What do you do with the information you have? i.e. 1 pupil in Class 4 may be missing.

Use something like this: GBP 14.15 Dulux Trade Quick Dry Varnish Clear Trade is much better than retail.

Have you looked at alternatives, such as wax? If you do varnish and want to lay flat, screw some screws in the top and bottom and lay wet side down on the screws. Laying it flat will attract every single speck of dust or grit on to the surface. EDIT: A door is best painted/varnished in situ, as it may need adjustments when being hung that would ruin the finish. there is a proper sequence for painting a door,
