I had to ask on numerous occasious for someone in Edugeek to make a BSF forum for christ's sake... Hackney I believe are losing 1/3 of their Support staff to cut the costs so RM can meet costs (as they came in very very low)and make a profit. As the bottom line is for all these companies... is to make a profit..

Because unlike Northgate some Managed Service Providors are not so free and easy with the Admin rights and *shock* some of them like Lewisham have server farms were an existing NM would never get access too.. And Deaks you have landed with your ass in the butter... It is well known that in Hackney whee RM is taking over there will be job losses of ICT support staff and the LEA and the unions cannot do nothing about it.. as it is agreed with the LEA

Deaks you are one of the lucky ones to have Northgate.... RM is another story...

What happens if the students know they can use Explorer to access the internet ?

In Hackney where RM is cutting back on the school staff Network Managers are applying for jobs in a pool.. so say 3 out of 6 will get employment.. But apart form that I doubt we will have a future as A. we wont have a Network to Manage and B. I doubt if the MSP will pay £30k+ for a toner drone So far we have heard nothing form anyone important that has been TUPED

We have the same problem with teachers leaving and copying the entire shared staff folder and their entire departmental folders

Once the big money and masses of new kit is dangled in front of the Head loyality will mean nothing.. I have seen it at schools here ... once the process starts the Heads are all "They'll never take you as you are one of us and we are family" etc... "how dare they" etc... but then once all the other schools are sucked in and the Heads see the millions of pounds they stand to lose if they do not sell you then their tune changes to... "well we can't stop progress" and "you'll have to deal with it" .. So if you stay at the school you will not be allowed to touch any ICT Kit... plus there is a good chance that all your servers will be off site in a server farm.. so you won't have an ICT job.. If you TUPE just hope it isn't to RM as they are reducing school ICT staff in Hackney... and if you do TUPE you then do not take instructions from the school only from the new Mother Ship telling you where to replace mice and change toner as you most likely will not be allowed any where near servers.. As I have said before this is the destruction of thr In-House ICT Support Community in schools

Hi we are about to move the staff from Local to Roaming Profiles 1/ Make user 2/ Log on as user and create profile 3/ Copy Profile over to Profile Server 4/ InAD set Profile Path to Folder on Profile Server noow what happens if I do not want to have to log on as every staff member to create the profile.. how do a make it so that they can all access Outlook int eir own account ?

The whole Mantra of BSF ICT rubbish is shared cross-school collaboration.. so if you want to fight them you have show you can share and not be a stand alone
