Can you do Android password resets or set passwords if there are none? "If" they are compromised, the wifi password is likely compromised too.

Has the power off/sleep sequence changed between board and PC or any othe "video" or sound configuration changed? Has anyone used the board natively since last being driven by the PC or had a different device wirelessly connected to it after school or whatever?

Have you tried going into Device Manager and looking at the USB (hidden?) devices at the visualiser status when you are logged on as admin? I presume you can't get there on the teacher account? These thing can still sort of sometimes work even when they are not quite right and there is an error code. Is it still plugged into the same USB port as it was previously?

Does it still work on the old computer in the old room for the teacher account?

Say you found something you had blocked as a category to pupils, that you expected to be blocked, that has "adult content" and you found the domain was whitelisted and explicitly set to bypass inspection.

How many weeks or months would you expect to wait to get an update after raising a support ticket?

As far as taking other people's old tat is concerned, just don't. Nobody gives anything away these days unless the last squeak of useable use has already been exacted. They will most likely be slow, not Win 11 compatible and generally not allow for either a good teaching or pupil experience. Personally, I get fed up with ideas such as this, however well-meaning from the PTA or Governors are of a school I support. We were donated all sorts of rubbish during covid. There were a couple of devices I kept but mostly, they were unusable as they were too slow, had dead batteries, slow wifi, very heavy or were broken. Presuming that the school has an experienced Office Manager and Network manager/Technician? They would probably be best placed to develop a viable strategy to acquire additional devices whether they be brand new or refurbs.

Hopefully it won't take as long as mine do to get a response. I have three tickets that have, or are about to have their one month birthdays! None of them difficult and all related to safeguarding/KCSIE filtering issues.

We have Thule racks on Thule roof bars. We've had to change the bars a couple of times for different cars, but the racks are the same. The bars also come in handy for bringing the Christmas tree home, collecting fence panels, fence posts and other assorted bits of timber and stuff, and taking things to the dump. There seems to be some general confusion about adding wholewords and keywords (Netsweeper parlance), to shared and local lists. If you add a wholeword or a keyword as an “allow” in a list, maybe even in a local list to override a shared list, you may not get the result you expect. To be more specific, let’s say you might want to allow the word ‘adult’ to be in a search or url for ‘adult fruit flies’, or pupils are trying to find out if they need to pay for an ‘adult ticket’ (which is 15 or over at the Odeon), and find that the word is blocked, ‘you could’ add it to a local list to allow it. I have heard that some even advise this! That might not be the best idea. A match in a local list takes a high priority, and as soon as a match is made, Netsweeper will act, and no further processing takes place. There will be a match in a search for: ‘adult fruit fly’ - No problem there. ‘adult prices’ - Its a bit vague, but probably OK ‘adult porn’ - Clearly a KCSIE problem, especially if a search engine without safe search or unenforced safe search is allowed. There is no safe way to add a word allow because there is a whole dictionary of other words that can be used to subvert the allow to bypass further filtering and access ‘problematic’ content. Its probably best in the case to leave out the word ‘adult’ from any lists or to have it in Netsweeper’s specific ‘search keyword list’ and to have category processing block inappropriate content.

We are with Schools Broadband. The network performs well, but we have serious Safeguarding issues with their Netsweeper configuration and their apparent indifference to fixing them.

I am generally finding that “Netsweeper” detects things well, but that the SBB configuration and SBB shared lists intervene and prevent it from doing its job. As far as access to web proxies in my case is concerned, I think that it must be a policy decision by SBB as I have had a ticket open about one such occurrence since last month and have been encouraged to fix in our local lists. SBB have forced a decryption bypass and whitelisted the domain in their shared lists. For now, I have done this by explicitly decrypting the domain and adding urls and have more to add before September, but as Netsweeper correctly detects the urls and would be blocking them automatically, I shouldn’t have to. It also means SBB have knowingly left this open for other customers.

Did this ever happen, as it still seems to be a problem for us?
