I'm a huge fan of 80s motors, had a couple of Peugeot 205 Gtis, a 1.6 which I promptly wrote off and then got a 1.9 Alo oown and have owned many Novas through out my 10 years of having driving license. Can agree about rust, my current nova has had welding pretty much everywhere and that is a low millage example. I think 80s cars are the last of the generation to be simple enough to work on with basic tools and not be weighed down with heavy "safety" equipment such as air bags, SIP etc.. but modern enough to use on a daily basis.

All this talk of steak and the bbq weather starting is making me feel very peckish But on a serious note, I'm well aware of where my food comes from. My father comes from a family of butchers which has had a shop for over 100 years so I'm well aware of the methods in which the animals are killed. But I know that they only use abetoirs that conform to the highest standards and the price and quality of the meet reflects that. I freely admit to having a diet that is probably too high in meet i.e. 2 of my 3 main meals a day will consist of some form of meet. This is largely down to needing a high protein diet for my gym training and its the only thing that seems to fill me up. The only time I'm warey of eating meet is when eating out as you generaly don't know the origins unless you're paying top dollar and if you go for a curry or chinese you're never going to know what is really in there. I understand the rational behing being a veggie or vegan but I myself have no desire the become one.

I'd advise getting a proper dual band router that can support both concurrently. The VM "Super" hub does support either 2.4 or 5 but not both at the same time. This way you can take advantage of both.

I've just contacted AQA regarding this and they are going to have a look in to this.

Went to Tools > Internet Options > Advanced > Reset Internet Explorer Settings.

We have been experiencing the issue also using IE8 and Win XP, we have tried filtered and unflitered proxies to resolve the issue. The only way we have got it to work was to reset the browser settings.

I agree, I was blown away by how responsive the Windows phones felt for the meagre hardware specs compared to the Android equivelents when testing them in the phone shops.

I'd avoid HTC's Android offerings, They usually get one update which is very delayed and then are considered old hat. The One X for example is only just getting JB where as the Samsung S3 has had it for quite a while and the Sensation which was the previous flagship is not going to get jb whereas Samsungs S2 does get it. All in all if going Android go for the Nexus or Samsung. I'm quite tempted by a Lumia 920 when its time to upgrade.

Seeing this thread being resurrected has motivated me to get back into cycling to work again, but the wind is ridiculous round here at the moment. I'm struggling with the 0.5 mile journey to and from the gym, its always against me on the way home

If you own a car there is no financial incentive to use public transport as you've pointed out but if you don't then the price can be competitive. Shouldn't really be that way I agree especially as more often than not the stations are miles away from where you need to be and the trains run at times that don't suite your needs. But more often than not fule is the only factor people cosider in the cost of journeys.

If you factor in the cost of fuel then I guess that would be true, but the purchase of the car or rental of the car, then running costs associatied i.e. insurance, wear and tear, tax, mot etc.. it then looks quite competitive and is a fixed not variable cost.

Correct and with the great lack of foresight most of the old route has been developed over so now we are faced with situation we have now at a great cost.

Oh I agree totally, I don't think the super markets help HMV either due to having a range of CDs, DVDs and electrical goods, all with the convinience of free parking, some times 24 hour opening and being able to do it all in one shop. Still theres walways the need for another coffeee shop

Makes me wonder if there will be any shops left in these great big shopping centres that have been built in towns and cities, some less than a decade ago

I got the pack as it was cheaper than CS:GO but included CS:GO The Crysis deal was too good to pass up but like I say is now showing the age of my PC

Purchased the complete counterstrike pack and the crysis pack. Loving Crysis 2 but not liking how slow it makes my PC look. Grrrrrrr, must resist upgrading at christmas

To see you through icey conditions you can get sudded tyres, they aren't cheap and require a bit of bedding in before being usefull but ideal on a mtb as they can accomdate quite wide tyres. I'm going to invest in some better base layers for this winter, roll on pay day

I cycle about 10 miles each way, when I first started I was using my sisters old mountain bike and back pack. This would give me a sweaty back and I found that I often ran out of gears. Ended up buying a GT Transeo hybrid and kitted it out with mud gaurds and a pannier rack and then spent £90 on Ortlieb pannier bags but I think they are the best purchase I've made in cycling accessories, they are completley water proof, its great not having to wrap everything up in carrier bags. Tyre wise I use Schwalbe land crusiers, they are a lot lighter than Marathons and they seem to be very puncture resistant, I've had my bike nearly 2 years and have yet to have a puncture. I got my cycle clothing from Sports Direct as I felt it useful being able to try them for size first and they seem to be holding up. I know a lot of people like to travel light but I tend to load everything in to my panniers for a bit more a challenge, makes decesents more interesting though. My dad has given me his old road bike that i use on nicer days and I'm going to convert it to a fixed gear bike whcih should make the hills round my way more of a challenge.

My commute is a 20 mile round trip and when my car was broken I decided to try and bike it, did this for most of last year and never felt better, fixed my car and haven't cycled since lol. In my defence the weather has been rubbish this summer. I really need to get back on my bike though as felt alot more alert and awake by the time I got to work. Was saving £20+ a week in fuel too. I'd love to find a job within walking distance though just not at a school.

Currently got an N reg 306 Dturbo as its cheap and with a few enhancements such as uprated suspension, bushes and a healty turn of the fueling screw great fun to drive. Nothing out there really shouts buy me so I'm happy as it is. Nearly done 200k and still drives and runs like a beaut and not a spot of rust.

Don't use thetrainline as they have a booking fee, you can get the same price by using the website of the train operating company but without the booking fee.

You can get them with both, but you need to get the Bluetooth as an additional external module. You may need to change the car aerial to a DAB compatible aerial too. I guess the reason for the external Bluetooth module is there simply isn't enough room in a single DIN headunit for everything.
