Hi Tailor I was in your exact position about 18 months, if your looking for a decent PA system for your hall try the link below its is a good quality 100wats RMS portiable PA system with a 8 hour battery on it play all your music off SD cards to so hours of music to play in the hall for assembly etc Browse for Products | CPC As for a computer for the hall there are as you no loads to choose from but as we all no in school price leads the way. I use ebuyer uk as you can get dual core 4gb ram 250GB HDD laptops for around £279 exc VAT schools don't pay. From the same retailer you can get optoma projectors for around £180 including a Vision long or short throw projector mount for around £80. The fun starts when you link the laptop to the projector what method of cabling should you use for the audio and video. Well you could just use a long VGA cable and long 3.5 to white and red rca audio cable but this to me seems messy and ok for temp situtations more permanent installs would require a CAT5e Video and audio extender. if you have never used these basically it's two boxes one lives up with your projector and the vga in from the projector goes into the vga out on the extender box a standard utp cat5e cable connects along side and ferrys the picture from the other box located near your laptop location in the hall it basically allows you to mount your projector and laptop where you want and only run one network cable between them instead of loads of cables. There is a final option and that is to install a gizmo made by infocus called liteshow III this is a wireless solution thats sits up with your projector on the mount and beams the picture from the laptop to the projector no wires and any laptop can present in the hall sounds good yeah? BUT WAIT! there is a downside powerpoints word docs will present wirelessly fine because their refresh rate is slow but start playing DVD movies HD steams etc via it and you will start to see a very clear frame drop and audio lag but if you don't plan to use video then its perfect. My advise would be to go the CAt5 route proven performance and no hassle. Hope this helps Matt

Hi all I have recently brought an Acer Aspire Revo R3700 for use in the school i was delighted to find that when i began to build it onto CC3 my USB CC3 boot drive found the required nic drivers which came up as Realtek 8168 Fast Ethernet Controller. It goes all the way through to the point where win xp has the green hills etc a black cmd box appears and says that network cannot be reached check cable error 1231. When i close this box and continue to load up win xp device manager reports the nic with a yellow question mark. So i assumed that the dos drivers are on the server but they are missing from the xpbuild side. So i created a new driver in the xpbuild side of CC3 and retried the build once again it got to the same black cmd box and the same message i have tried the nic drivers i injected into the build, and they make the nic work perfectly in xp why is my build not seeing the xp drivers i installed? thanks for any help.

I would like to keep my hob nobs please. with regards to finding Laptops that will build onto CC3, i have had a hell of a time with this. why can't all laptop makers just stick to using Intel NICS they are the best. Toshiba would have been my suggestion to as they do build without hassles, other that that you will have to clean install xp install all drivers and then smart client them onto the server.

Hi everyone if im in the wrong place sorry just need so advise im current the network NM on a cc3 network the server is about 6 years old running cc3 win2003 and around 80 rm clients i have requested a qoute from rm for a new dual serv xl and to go from cc3 to cc4 just got the qoute they want £7500 and that does not include installation and set by EIS which i have to get pricing for. My question is can i just buy an HP Proliant server put a copy of win 2003 on it seems simple enough but where do i go or can i get hold of cc4 discs myself or buy the hardware from rm and install it all myself whats involved with setting up a cc4 server any advise i would be very grafeful Thanks

Yet more crap from bill gates that we the user will have to test and iron out all the bugs and install 50 thousand service packs and oh yeah that nice printer or nice webcam u had sry not supported but hey u can always by one that does work with windows lemon i mean 7 lol
