Will you be buying the iPhone 13?
ZFarnworth_geek replied to Sonic007's topic in Mobile Devices & Tablets
Yes been groping at it persuading the boss to allow me to get the iPhone 13, I would so love to get my hands on it 🤤 -
Would you go hosted sims? If you’ve got chromebooks and just have staff login to sims ID on chrome and then download the rdp file as long as you have got the rdp app installed, that should be about it. That’s what I’d do but every school is different.

My servers are all characters from lord of the rings and the hobbit, for example Gandalf is the primary dc because he’s practically the leader of the hobbits and whatnot.

Exchange 2013 and Cloudflare Wildcard ssl
ZFarnworth_geek replied to ZFarnworth_geek's topic in Windows Server 2012
I’ll be completely honest with you guys, I’ve been really trying now to get my sh**t together. Your guys comments have really shown me what I need to sort out and I thank you all for that. I have made the decision to stay on office 365 as I realise it’s the best option for me and my clients. I have chosen to go with adfs as it is something I would like to have setup for my network and my clients. I’ve been using okta free for office 365 because that’s all I have and use for productivity I guess you could say. and for anyone who is wanting a free federation service which makes life easier for you and I would really recommend it. But I would really really like to deploy adfs because it would be an achievement to me and something I would like to have for long term and for my helpdesk. I have got firewall setup and ready to go. I meant to say that in the second reply I did earlier. But I have also realised from all of your comments that since covid everyone has been moving to remote working and simpler solutions cloud is the way and I got bored of the cloud and how easy things are now as I think that company’s are moving to office 365 and google and we might not all like that but sometimes we’ve got to do what’s best for the company or school. And I will be upgrading all of my servers to 2019 or 2016 if the specs can handle it. And ssd upgrades for all [emoji16] But I would like to thank you all for your comments you all have really opened my eyes. Thanks, Zak Stay safe -
Exchange 2013 and Cloudflare Wildcard ssl
ZFarnworth_geek replied to ZFarnworth_geek's topic in Windows Server 2012
Yep, completely right again, I just love exchange server and the faff it is to get an email to deliver [emoji23] but if I’m going to do anything next it would be adfs because it’s a challenge that I would like to at least get working for my office 365 clients as everyone has made me think [emoji189] it’s best to move to the cloud these days with remote working and ease of access. -
Exchange 2013 and Cloudflare Wildcard ssl
ZFarnworth_geek replied to ZFarnworth_geek's topic in Windows Server 2012
Hello all. Hope you are all staying safe. Over the next 2 weeks I will be deploying exchange 2013 (I know I shouldn’t be using it but love 2013 version) anywho, I’m using cloud flare just so I can get a free wildcard and I wanted to double check if I can do this with the csr request when I create it in the EAC and I just wanted to check if it would work. Thanks, Zak Appreciate any advice -
[emoji51] I’m deploying exchange 2013 next week, so best get a backup and Antivirus to be safe…

SIMS RemoteApp RDP not working
ZFarnworth_geek replied to Theldron's topic in Windows Server 2008 R2
Ha sorry did not see how old the post was [emoji23] -
Hi all hope you are all well and happy Easter. I’ve recently had to do the whole network again (long story) and network drives will sometimes apply to users but applies fine to admins. Also folder redirection will not apply for users only admins it applies for. Currently we are on 1909 was on 1903 and still had these issues. Please help before I throw each Dc out of the window from the server room [emoji24][emoji24][emoji24][emoji24] Thanks all.

Yep. We’ve had this issue on all staff computers we don’t actually have a wsus server. We are trying to get that up and running we just ran a script I think. But it’s a nightmare I found out that it does that in the 20h2 update so that is probably why you get black screen after logon

SIMS RemoteApp RDP not working
ZFarnworth_geek replied to Theldron's topic in Windows Server 2008 R2
Hi. I know this is probably not an option you would want to take but would you not upgrade to server 2012 r2 for stability as server 2008 r2. Is an EOL ops Hope that helps in any way. -

[2004, 20h2] Diasabling Internet explorer in group policy
ZFarnworth_geek posted a topic in Windows 10
Hi all. Hope everyone is ok. I’ve successfully deployed windows 10 to all my machines. And so far no hiccups yet [emoji4] But I’ve been looking at disabling internet explorer and wanted to know if anyone has managed to do it without additional software or anything like that to disable it. Because I know sims is a pain when internet explorer is disabled. Thanks, Zak -
Hi all Recently I’ve integrated office 365 with okta and that’s going great teachers are happy and most importantly The Head teacher is happy [emoji2] woohoo [emoji322]. BUT I’ve been put to the task to setup a custom url for students and staff to go to the okta user portal where they can access student apps and staff apps but the default okta url is super long and hard for students and staff to remember and there is a setting where you can import a ssl wildcard cert but I don’t want to buy one and let’s encrypt is my only option at the minute and I watched a video explaining how to do it Here. https://youtu.be/kWhDwYGwR50to And it talks about godaddy and that but my domain is managed by Microsoft so there is no logon details and no IP address I’ve got the name server records but everyone has that who uses office 365 Please help me anyone I would really appreciate it. Thanks [emoji4] P.S I’ve put it in the windows 10 topic page because I didn’t know where to put my post
