Issues importing KS2 SATs results into SIMS
gazskeltz replied to gazskeltz's topic in Data Managers's Data Managers Topics
Hi, Yes indeed. It's all up the creak at the moment. https://customer.support-ess.com/csm?id=community_question&sys_id=744962341b649154551b8557d34bcb58&anchor=answer_cd29bef81b24d154551b8557d34bcbcb&view_source=searchResult&fbclid=IwAR05fgiCMteEaLDeMvXm0OvdisSyfyD6-muJ0NIkGbk2mjSxNi5cU5Nf9zc -
I've avoided jumping so far. Best tip from my Boss (He's a Deputy Head) is to have separate accounts for - in his case - Deputy Head, Teacher, Personal Regards Gary

Music Graded Examinations
gazskeltz replied to gazskeltz's topic in Data Managers's Data Managers Topics
Hi, The thinking here is that anything that could contribute to P8 is worth having If we can shoehorn or crowbar it in. These exams are taken offsite, usually privately, by the student. That's why I'm hoping we can add them at Data Checking time. We have 4Matrix and I've tested with a Grade 6 Rock & Pop award which gets put into the 'Other' bucket in P8, In this particular case, the student's P8 went up a little bit and the award trumped his A in PE. Music Graded Examinations

Thanks Bob, I could see them in the document you mentioned. I just wanted to check that 'outside' awards would count on our figures for Progress 8 if we add them in August or Tables Checking time. Does this sound reasonable to you? (or anyone else...) Regards Gary -
Hi all, Wonder if anyone could help here. We have a student (probably tip of the iceberg stuff) who has achieved a Grade 8 in 'Rock and Pop' QAN 6003959X. This was achieved outside of school. I've had a play with our friendly 4Matrix system and if I shoehorn this result in, 4Matrix slots the result into bucket 3 (Other) part of the Progress 8 Calculations. A grade 8 pass is worth 66 points according to the QAN code. So, If we were to add these results to the student's results data in school , would they count in the school's performance measures? In this case, the student's P8 score went up from +0.41 to +0.41, displacing PE A grade in the process because this was better. Before staff get over excited and start looking for multi instrumentalists in our cohort, I wanted to check that it was worth the effort for us. Thanks in advance Regards Gary

Fine Grades and Numerical Grades

Hi, 4Matrix will convert +/- to 1 and 3 internally when you import a spreadsheet. you won't have to convert. Not sure about any other naming conventions you may be considering. Regards Gary -
Hi, CAM is right - the way the aspects are named is a nightmare. If you think the old Data Manager had inconsistencies... Best thing to do is to have a look at the results broadsheet from Examinations and then, one by one, try and find the aspects for the results in SIMS. Add these bit by bit to a master marksheet template and then cross check to see if the grades are what you thought thy were. You can then change the column description to something meaningful...

Hi CAM, Exactly how I understand it as well. Slightly more complex if (like us) you have a three year KS4. I'm just as unprepared and it looks like the summer will be taken up with creating new marksheets and converting historical data to the new grade sets. In addition, Legacy GCSE Point Scores will be changing. See https://www.gov.uk/government/uploads/system/uploads/attachment_data/file/415486/Progress_8_school_performance_measure.pdf Here: https://dataeducator.wordpress.com/2015/03/06/the-regression-of-progress-8/ And here: https://principalprivate.wordpress.com/2015/03/08/what-i-am-learning-about-their-determination-to-perpetuate-unfairness-in-accountability-systems/ Regards Gary

Hi, That's fine but it's all the valuable old stuff that's gone. Only yesterday I was asked about creating a Photo Medical Conditions report, which I could quite easily do myself. However, a SupportNet user had created one and uploaded it to file sharing on the old site. I was able to produce something in a couple of minutes using that. It's such a shame they couldn't leave the old site open for read only. Having said that, considering how well it's been going this morning, I reckon we might be back on there by this afternoon! Then I might sit and download loads of stuff anyway! Gary

Well... I was on.... Got the same error as above now. Maybe my single new thread and one reply was enough to break the Camel's back...

Hi, I'm in - got on the site at about 7:45. Posted my first new thread asking what happened to all the user files that had been uploaded. All gone now... Gary

Hi there, Try going to the template - Focus/Assessment/Templates. Find the templates that the marksheets are created from, open them and delete the marksheets. Then rename the template with, perhaps, a 'z' at the beginning of the name. That way you can easily find the templates you have 'retired'. Hope that helps Regards Gary
