About this Group

A group for users of the Fronter VLE to bounce ideas off each other and provide help. This group isn't officially affiliated with Fronter.
  1. What's new in this group
  2. Sorry but it does not work on my laptop ( Could it be something from Fronter's side? Regards, Agiles
  3. anyone got any progress with new rooms and groups being created in the 2001/12 start of year process? John
  4. Hello all, you may know how to do this already, but I thought I'd share because I am feeling pleased with myself for figuring it out! Anyway, it is possible to have a background image or tiled wallpaper on any Fronter page you design. Just do this... 1) Upload an image somewhere and copy its address once it is in situ (or copy the address of a picture on the web). 2) Create a new container anywhere on your page and choose to 'insert text'. 3) When the text editor comes up, click the little 'source' button. 4) In the source box type: <body background="full address of the picture you will use"> 5) Save and , voila, a pretty background picture. The background will show through the containers too so one needs to fill these with a table (one cell set to size=100%) that has a coloured background. I've been happily making pages since I found this out and feel Fronter is a much less drab place now! Steve
  5. As admin - under settings - design you can find the options. I have looked at it and it is complicated to come up with a completely new interface. With care you may be able to make a copy of a design, then replace the correct graphic with another of the same size.
  6. have fronter said this is possible? I have never seen it or heard that you can do it, but would seem a good idea.
  7. Hi Does anyone know how to set a background image to a personal toolbar? thanks J.
  8. We are using learning paths as part of page design. One page per unit and students flick through them to get information on the modules.
  9. we are heading down a similar route, though I'd rather not let it become an 'online shared area'. I think all the forums and messenging are good ideas, and the scorm stuff seems to be fairly decent. just not sure how things like tests and learning paths are going to work effectively in secondary. if anyone wants to have a look at our attempts then I will PM a password, likewise I'd be interested in other peoples attempts!
  10. Secondary admin here. We are using it for both staff and students. It's biggest benefit to us is the sharing of files online so staff and students can access stuff at home. Messages are also sent out to students by their teachers and forums are used in the online classrooms to get some discussion going on a topic. Recently the English department had a secret code assignment and the English groups discussing how to crack the code on Fronter's message boards.
  11. I discovered this the other day and plan on having a bash at it. A few technically oriented staff have made Flash based sites too on their class homepages. For those unsure how the demo site does it, you need to make your HTML page and add it as a custom tool to the room. Then bump the custom tool to the top of the side bar.
  12. at this moment in time, we are struggling to really use fronter to its potential because all the features seem to be targeting the primary market. things like drawing pictures for emails are 'nice' features but not really helpful in secondary. just wondering how people are fitting in vast resources and making all this 'interctive learning' possible?
  13. It appears you can make websites outside of Fronter and run them from Fronter. This lets you create far more useful and better looking sites then whats possible from within Fronter. Go to Login: secondary Password: London https://fronter.com/ukusers/ Now go to the GCSE ICT room for an example.
  14. I'm a fronter admin for my LA so I have to use it from time to time :-)
  15. Open to anyone involved in Fronter at their workplace, using it, maanging it, looking at it.$ I support the students in using it and joined the school's internal user group to help decide what to do with it from September onwards. That made me realise how complicated it can be keeping Fronter under control.
  16. ... not exactly a user more of a technical advisor.
