I loved playing around with Moodle. But haven't really played with it for a while. Currently umemployed, so if anyone wants any help with Moodle, maybe I could help ya! Steve
-
Currently trying to integrate this into our Moodle... Microsoft Live Services Plug-in for Moodle Would be great for our aim of collaboration, communication and socila learning but the block is definitely still a work in progress (as is the whole Live@Edu system by the looks of it)
-
Redbridge IAE Here's our one currently in development. Had a failed project a couple of years back but I've got a much better feeling about this. Theme is based on Shaun Daubney's Aardvark with some customisations for a nicer menu and tweaked to our branding \ colour scheme. Also hoping to get the Microsoft Live Services block in there but it's a right pain at the moment

Welcome to the Nova Hreod VLE Ours went live two years ago also. The take-up has been very slow, although a couple of teachers are quite fond of it. The theme is based on Custom_Corners, with a smattering of Clouds and quite a large lump of EduMoodle.

Hmm, very hard to find freebie SCORMS, haven't had a chance to continue the search but will do when the major work is done this summer. Will keep you posted if I find any articles regarding your topic. Tempted to write a few SCORMs myself for major topics covered in the main subjects. Let me know if you need anything and i'll see what i can do. Cheers

Hello all, I am an ICT/MIS Consultant who is contracted to a new Academy. I have been asked to help 'find' a VLE expert / consultant who can be contracted for the first year to get the moodle site up and running, get the teachers engaged and ensure they are able to upload and manage content themsleves. Whilst showing a nominated support person the ropes. Any ideas where I can find such a person? They are looking for a really good and engaging site, better than 'normal'

Just wondering if you've found any really good KS1/2/3 SCORM resources on you net travels! I've found a few recently which I have posted links for below, just wondering if anybody else has come across any other banks of resources. Does anyone know how to easily create SCORM packages, I've looked at the eXe stuff and it's still a little confusing, anyone made any examples. Is there a SCORM to make a SCORM (paradox!!!) Hi guys, I've just updated our too drab looking moodle theme using the 'Clouds - by Julian Ridden'. You can see an example of it here - Welcome to the Unity College VLE If you are playing with themes for your schools why not post here to let others see how you are making your Moodle more visually appealing for your students. Thanks Steve

vle.shorehamcollege.co.uk The moodle server has been available here for a couple of years. The real stumbling block is getting the teachers to invest the time in setting up their courses. However we have one member of staff who is leading the way, and I hope the uptake will improve.
-
You can access ours here We went live in Sep09 and have every teacher and ever student logging on regulaly. Content is being updated and added all the time, and the sytems is being developed continually ad-hoc. The theme stands out quite a bit from conventional ones out there - and are heavily based on the work of Shaun Daubney, which are freely available on the Moodle.org site

Hi apoth0r, If you use LDAP authentication it is easy. Log in as admin, go to Users > Authentication > LDAP Server > Scroll down to the Data Mapping section and make sure that the First Name and Surname fields are set as Locked (obviously with LDAP enteries for the system to pick up the names they have in AD)
-
Unfortunately I haven't used Fronter. What I can tell you about Moodle though is that it's superb maintenance wise. I've had no real big problems since it was installed, the only thing i'm trying to fathom is stopping the kids changing their profile names etc. Anyone knows let me know
-
Can anyone tell me what are main differences between Moodle and Fronter ,in terms of maintenance , GIF and other aspects
-
I must admit i quite like having a play with the themes :-) One of the perks of the task. Although seeing a new course constructed is also quite rewarding, especially when a teacher has done it all themselves! :-)
-
http://moodle.unity.northants.sch.uk We started it approximately beginning of February, been working very closely with an ICT Teacher and have come up with some good ideas so far. Hoping we can keep the tech and the T&L close together so we can have the ideal platform :-) Mainly working on tutorials at the moment because it's the teachers that supply the content, so they need to know how to do it. I'm hoping it's going fully live as of Easter, but the teachers have picked up on it very well I have to say. They seem eager for content to go on and are asking me lots of questions, I hope you guys are having the same feedback as I have. Very encouraging.

Any chance people could stick up a link to their Moodle, possibly with a quick run down of how long it has been going, rough uptake by staff and students, what they think is great about theirs or what they are hoping to do? Where we are slowly getting a build up for our Moodle I am getting more staff asking about what other places are doing or what it could end up like. Be nice to have some shining examples in one place.
-
Hi apoth0r! I managed to delegate the day to day Moodle admin to my assistant, but still keep an overview of it and add bits in etc. I've been busy "Theme"ing recently! Most of my themes are heavily based on the awesome themes available on Moodle.org from Shaun D from Newbury College.
-
Hi guys, just wanted to start a thread to find out what people are currently doing with their VLE. As a real-life example I'm currently working on the tutorials for teachers, including the setting up of courses (the settings involved in doing so) and what teachers can do to differ their courses from others. Fortunately we have a department who have used Moodle before so they have done us a tip top example of their work. I'm hoping to have a guest login available soon (once the majority of the work is done) to allow yourselves to take a peak. I have to say my motivation has gone through the roof with this, I'm very excited to be a part of it. Better late then never I guess! :-)

Welcome to the Moodlers social group. I presume you have made the decision or looking to make a decision on what platform to use. What could be better than a well thought out open source (yes free) learning platform. I hope this social group turns out to be a successful decision where we can all share our ideas and best practice. I find moodle to be a great way for schools to come together and instead of continually reinventing the wheel, as we all seem to do in education, we can instead share our resources, make things easier for ourselves and concentrate our skills into ensuring teaching and learning is the main focus of our efforts. I hope you share my vision. Kind Regards Steve Pothecary
