Dos_Box Posted February 4, 2013 Posted February 4, 2013 As some of you know, I am waiting on the delivery of a new phone all the way from China. As there is no-one at home (well apart from me!) and it will require signing for should I be safe to go to the office today or work from home (I was going to this morning anyway). Judging by the progress of this status update, should I stay at home or go into the office later and potentially miss the delivery? sonofsanta Posted February 4, 2013 Posted February 4, 2013 Doesn't say out for delivery, and that normally crops up by 7am if it is out... but I have absolutely no faith in delivery companies whatsoever, so you must, of course, put your life on hold entirely until the package arrives. Even though when it does, they'll sign for it themselves and just drop it in your bin. Without telling you. Ten minutes before the bin men come round.
rich_tech Posted February 4, 2013 Posted February 4, 2013 resign yourself to picking it up from the Depot ? or is the depot miles away ?
NikChillin Posted February 4, 2013 Posted February 4, 2013 Someone has to be in to pay UPS the custom charge!
rad Posted February 4, 2013 Posted February 4, 2013 We only want to know one question, what phone are you waiting for?
X-13 Posted February 4, 2013 Posted February 4, 2013 We only want to know one question, what phone are you waiting for? IIRC it's this one. @Dos_Box I'd take the day off, any excuse to get out of the office is a good one.
Dos_Box Posted February 4, 2013 Author Posted February 4, 2013 Actually, it's this one: http://www.amazon.co.uk/STAR-N9770-SANDWICH-smartphone-supported/dp/B008MKGNF6/ref=sr_1_1?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1359978348&sr=1-1 And the import duty is already paid, although I would be careful as many of the same model listed for cheaper do not already have the duty added on. As i have said earlier, I shall do a review of this once it arrives and I've had it for a few days and then I shall let you all know which Amazon seller I brought it from. My trusty old Nexus One got some very amused looks from everyone of the stand at BETT in a 'how-on-earth-do-you-manage' kind of way.
Dos_Box Posted February 4, 2013 Author Posted February 4, 2013 What I should have ask is whether the line 'HUB Receipt at HUB' actually means it has been dispatched or is still at the couriers depot wherever 'CEF' happens to be.
X-13 Posted February 4, 2013 Posted February 4, 2013 Actually, it's this one: STAR N9770 - 5.08 inch MTK6577 1.2GHz dual core CPU android 4.0.4 ICE CREAM SANDWICH 3G smartphone dual sim 8MP camera WIFI GPS, new google play store and flash player supported, with flip case (black, white): Amazon.co.uk: Electronics I swear you showed me the other one at BETT... My trusty old Nexus One got some very amused looks from everyone of the stand at BETT in a 'how-on-earth-do-you-manage' kind of way. You probably did better battery-wise than I did though... Old phones have INSANE battery life. [i have a Nokia 3330 from about 10 years ago that STILL has charge.]
Dos_Box Posted February 4, 2013 Author Posted February 4, 2013 Yeah, the Nexus One still gives me a weekends worth of life with 3G on and holds it's charge like it was new.
sted Posted February 4, 2013 Posted February 4, 2013 resign yourself to picking it up from the Depot ? or is the depot miles away ? in that case hope its not yodel as i tried that went to depot 3 times after going on internet as card says to tell them to leave at depot. going in to pick it up and being told its on a truck we dont get internet stuff here, and after asking in person for it to be left at depot it still went out again and promised saturday delivery failed as well turned up 1 week later i got home early
sonofsanta Posted February 4, 2013 Posted February 4, 2013 What I should have ask is whether the line 'HUB Receipt at HUB' actually means it has been dispatched or is still at the couriers depot wherever 'CEF' happens to be. I would have thought that meant it's at the depot and will be out tomorrow, but IANADD.
Dos_Box Posted February 4, 2013 Author Posted February 4, 2013 That's what I though. But 'tomorrow' was actually last Friday. So it could arrive any time now. *Rubs hands and waits*
Domino Posted February 4, 2013 Posted February 4, 2013 Do you really think it would have arrived and we'd not heard? ..unless it has arrived and it's *really* bad, so Chris is sobbing into his bag of leftover lanyards
aerospacemango Posted February 4, 2013 Posted February 4, 2013 Do you really think it would have arrived and we'd not heard? ..unless it has arrived and it's *really* bad, so Chris is sobbing into his bag of leftover lanyards I think it's arrived and he's sooooo busy playing with it that he's forgotten that we even exist!
Ric_ Posted February 4, 2013 Posted February 4, 2013 I think it's arrived and he's sooooo busy playing with it that he's forgotten that we even exist! Or maybe it exploded in his hands... thus rendering him incapable of typing an update?
