Digital Blue Microscopes do these work with Windows 7?

 

Have installed these but they are recognized as a scanning device how the doobies do you get them to work?

 

Software throws up errors and freezes.

 

Ideas much appreciated.

 

Perhaps the Weee recycling depot for these little fellas!

I would get the small hand held ones from TTS, like a small web cam. Tried one the other week and was really impressed at the magnification. Best thing is on W7 no drivers to load and software to view can be placed on the server and just shared out with a link as its an executable and no install required. Just as it should be

No these do not work with Windows 7.

You only have to check the "Similar Threads" list at the bottom of this page for a litany of complaints about these things. They are terrible and the software is even worse. The TTS ones aren't fabulous either, but at least they are cheap and they work.

they dont work on win7 even the v3 cameras. the software will install and load but no drivers

Anything marked "Digital Blue" needs filing into the "Digital Bin", with a strongly worded letter sent to their HQ. Biggest piles of crap ever to enter into educational establishments. We've got some scanners in this building that damn near predate USB yet still work perfectly in Windows 8.

I've got a LPT scanner from primax that works fine, slow, but fine. Just plug it in, reboot and it appears with a generic driver under wia!

 

I also have had the primary school lynch mob chase me with flaming torches and pitch forks when I told them the digital blue cra... kit wouldn't work any more.

They do work on win7 with a bit of hacking, need a bat file to start the exe with only 1 cpu core. I'll put the details on my website if people want them.

 

What do people recommend as a replacement? QX7 is out, but the software hasn't been updated properly according to the website.

 

There's the smartscope, but the software looked like it was from win3.1

We have just got a batch of the Veho 004 Deluxe USB microscopes. Really good magnification. Just plugs in and works or you can install the driver and their software. I have an issue open with their help desk over trying to use the time lapse function of their software causes an error.

 

If anyone knows of a decent free alternative time lapse software that turns the result straight into a movie then I'll dump their software and use that instead.
