Looking to swap ideas with similar large academies

I'm NM at a large academy (1350 pupils) with a well-funded modern network: servers on Server 2008R2 virtualised under VMWare, 900 Windows 7 clients, decent 80+ AP managed WLAN, Cisco VOIP, video on demand, etc. etc). I want to establish contact with similar schools with a view to learning what the trends are that I should be considering adopting. What are the buzz words that your teachers are using? What are they asking you for? What are you thinking of buying, and why? Do you use the cloud? VDI? How's BYOD going? You get the picture.

 

If what you're doing is interesting, I'd like to visit, and would reciprocate the hospitality.

 

We're in Barnet, so can travel to just about anywhere server by LGfL or to Herts.

Fully Agreed, @Soulfish is the guy as that fits him perfectly a multi-million £ IT estate in a brand new academy 2 years ago. Not got that many students in it yet but designed for a large number they are filling from Y7 and Y12 up so take a few years but should be heading for that size once done if I remember....
