Dos_Box Posted January 8, 2013 Posted January 8, 2013 (edited) Just seen this coming into Aldi: ALDI - Sunday Special Buys 13th January 2013 Now, half of me is saying 'What a good idea. Quicker cooking and less energy used'. The other half is saying 'It'll never get used and you'll car-boot it in a year'. So, does anyone have one of these (or like it) and what do you think? Earthling Posted January 8, 2013 Posted January 8, 2013 Looks suspiciously like this one to me JML Halogen Oven Review | Halogen Oven Reviews Interesting idea, though, I'm so fed-up of cooking lately, the amount of preparation and stuff just for myself. 1
IrritableTech Posted January 8, 2013 Posted January 8, 2013 My Gran had one for a long time. Used it a fair bit. They use them in my local Costco to cook the free smaples too. 1
crc-ict Posted January 8, 2013 Posted January 8, 2013 We have got one, it's very good. We use it more than the main oven now - for two adults and two under 5s. That said, if you are going to get one, I'd say get one with a hinged lid assembly - being glass and having all the controls and the lamp, the lid is heavy and gets very hot, so a loose one you have to find somewhere to put down would be a pain. Ours is similar to this one (http://www.idealworld.tv/Cookshop_7L_Halogen_Oven_with_3L_Extension_Ring%2c_Accessories_and_Recipe_Book_190448.aspx?fh_location=//idealworld/en_GB/$s=halogen%20oven) but 12l capacity and is very good. 1
NikChillin Posted January 8, 2013 Posted January 8, 2013 We had one but cooking for 6, four teen boys incl it wasn't big enough. It would have been great otherwise. Ditto on the lid though, it gets VERY hot and you will need the workspace as it is large.
Earthling Posted January 8, 2013 Posted January 8, 2013 Just watched the cookshop video and realised it's way too big for my postage stamp sized kitchen. So I thought about it all some more and now I've realised that it's not a cooker I need...............it's a Cook.
