Demote last 2003 Box

Hello,

Im looking at demoting my last 2003 box now and i want to ensure everything is going to work fine once i do this. I have recently inherited this network.

My current domain set up is

1 x 2003 Box - just a GC (Physical) (DHCP - non authroitive and it has Certificate Authority on it but appears not to have been working since 2011)

1 x 2008 R2 - GC & DNS (Virtual)

1 x 2008 R2 - GC & DNS & DHCP & FSMO Roles (Physical) (the schema role was on the 2003 box untill last week)

1 x 2008 R2 - GC & DNS (New one) (Physical) Promted this a week ago and have Run it with all 4 and appears to be working okay and loggin people on.

 

DNS is Active Directory Integrated.

 

What i want to know is there anything i can do to ensure everything is going to work after I demote the 2003 box.

I have turned the 2003 box off last night and everything seems to be okay but i am unsure what to look for.

Any advice will be much appreciated. Thanks

If what you posted above is acurate you should be just fine.

I agree with @FN-GM but would add that may be best to remove the CA role before demoting the server from being a DC. Iirc there were issues with 2003 when the CA was on a DC that you could not change the DC while the CA service is present.

thanks is there any commands i can run to double check? What is the CA supposed to do, do i actualy need it in the domain - this is the first time i have come across it.
