Jobos Posted December 7, 2012 Posted December 7, 2012 Hi, I'm looking for the discover installer on the support net website but all I'm finding is the install guides. Does anyone have a link to the installer please? Thanks.
JPatch Posted December 7, 2012 Posted December 7, 2012 Hi Jobos, Pretty sure we can't direct link it but if you look at Resource number 20246 on supportnet the link is hidden in there just past the sims and fms updates. Hope this helps!

Hope this helps! Thanks but I've look through all 10 pages but can't see that resource number. Which page is it on?
JPatch Posted December 7, 2012 Posted December 7, 2012 Hi Jobos, Sorry, the link just directs you to a search page. If you put the resource number in the search box at the top of the page and click search you should be able to find it. Hope this helps
Jobos Posted December 7, 2012 Author Posted December 7, 2012 Thanks again but the HT has just handed me the cd. Don't you just love it when they are clear the first time round
LosOjos Posted January 8, 2013 Posted January 8, 2013 I'm also having trouble finding it - 20246 appears to be gone now... any ideas? I hate Supportnet!
Rawns Posted January 8, 2013 Posted January 8, 2013 I'm also having trouble finding it - 20246 appears to be gone now... any ideas? I hate Supportnet! Just searched for 20246 from the SupportNet homepage and it's there for me...
LosOjos Posted January 8, 2013 Posted January 8, 2013 Just searched for 20246 from the SupportNet homepage and it's there for me... Very odd, I'm getting nothing... I've even tried going via various routes (Files, News, Documents etc.), searching all and sorting by ID, tried ticking "include expired", absolutely nothing showing up with ID 20246! Why isn't there just a link on the homepage to the latest version's ISO? Would make life so much easier! Then again, nothing about the Supportnet site is easy!

LosOjos Posted January 8, 2013 Posted January 8, 2013 Try it from the quick search field on the right of the home page. That's how I'm finding it. Tried that, tried via the global search page too... in fact, working back through the pages on global search when no filters are applied and results are sorted by ID, it goes straight for 20244 (Discover release notes) to 20248 (SIMS autumn release new bulletin)
Steve21 Posted January 8, 2013 Posted January 8, 2013 Works here too 20246 News item 16/11/12 *** SIMS 2012 Autumn Release - Now Available Which includes the link to the discover ISO Steve 1

LosOjos Posted January 8, 2013 Posted January 8, 2013 Just found that my local support team had a copy on their website that I could download. Thanks all for your help!
vikpaw Posted January 9, 2013 Posted January 9, 2013 Just out of interest can you see if this works :- http://support.capitaes.co.uk/user/detail.asp?params=%91%D5%CB%DD%E5%F3%9D%D7%E3%DE%D9%EF%99%C4%E6%E5%A0%C8%DD%E5%A9%B5%C7%E2%E9%D3%D8%D5%EE%AB%CA 2

The question is, is it the LA or Capita blocking me? I suspect Capita, as I can't see how the LA could hide the actual entries containing downloads from search results on SupportNet.

I did not actually try the links so just have and they work fine for me. Like you say, I'd suspect it's Capita blocking you rather than the LA. May be worth raising it with Capita in the first instance...
Ecclesbury Posted January 9, 2013 Posted January 9, 2013 LosOjos, you are not alone! I can't find resource number 20246 anywhere on Support Net. I've often had trouble finding things that others seem to find easily, but I thought it was just me being dense (it probably was!) However, I could download the Discover CD image from the link Vikpaw posted.
zag Posted January 9, 2013 Posted January 9, 2013 This is a complete JOKE capita. I've been complaining about these hidden links for Discover for the last 3 releases. SORT IT OUT!!!!! Argghhhh rant over.
vikpaw Posted January 9, 2013 Posted January 9, 2013 It's being sorted out as we rant. The all new, singing, dancing Support .Net2 is being created right now and will be in alpha testing by the end of next week.
vikpaw Posted January 9, 2013 Posted January 9, 2013 I wonder if it's something to do with having LA support and expecting the LA to release the links to you if they wish. It might explain why there are two versions of the release notification, one with links and one without. I just checked and i can't see that resource number in the list if i search directly, in all categories or by clicking on sims releases on the right hand side, it only shows up if i search by resource number. The links appear to work though.

Show of hands; which of us who receive local support can't find that resource without Vik's direct link?
jbunoomally Posted January 9, 2013 Posted January 9, 2013 The thought had crossed my mind. Show of hands; which of us who receive local support can't find that resource without Vik's direct link? Yep - i also thought those with LSU's may have a restricted access on SupportNet. We have support with a LSU and can't get the file. JB 1
Ecclesbury Posted January 9, 2013 Posted January 9, 2013 We have Capita Direct support, but only since October 2012 when we became an academy. Until then we were LA supported.
