mtillbrook Posted December 6, 2012 Posted December 6, 2012 Ok, so I've just been told by our main licensing supplier that Exchange 2010 is no longer available and if we want an exchange license then we are buying 2013. Has anyone used this as yet and does any one have any useful hints and tips for me?? Cheers!!
DrCheese Posted December 6, 2012 Posted December 6, 2012 If you already have Exchange 2010 deployed, you'll need to wait until 2010 SP3 comes out before you can upgrade. I've not had much chance to use it yet, due to the above, else I'd have it deployed by now

This may be a silly question but would this just involve using the same license key and sticking it in the older software? Why is it that Microsoft are rushing to get people upgraded so quickly? Usually we have a little time between the new versions coming out and old ones being withdrawn from sale!
sukh Posted December 6, 2012 Posted December 6, 2012 You dont need to enter the key anywhere for Exch. It's a honour based license. They trust you have bought the license that's all, but you will get an annoying pop to say you need to register but that goes away.

sukh Posted December 6, 2012 Posted December 6, 2012 It doesn't reduce any funtionality, unless you were using a version that I have not used. The trial version as full functionality.
sukh Posted December 6, 2012 Posted December 6, 2012 It's not like the OS whereby every hour the screen will go black of Windows will shutdown, it keeps on running. So even though you dont actually buy a licenses for Exch and install it, you would have to buy for the OS as it will keep shutting down (something you dont want in your prod env), saying that, you should buy a license anyway :-) Not just a windows OS license.
