Lectern for Hall

We currently have a setup in the hall with a computer and sound system. The projector acts as the splitter. The Main hall is used for classroom teaching.

 

The Head wants to introduce a mobile Lecturn from which he can talk from, control the computer but also read the display without having to turn around.

Now I know how we can set up a wireless Keyboard, Mouse and Microphone, but is it possible to have a wireless display?

 

How do you do it in your school?

Something like SMART Podium interactive pen display - SMART Technologies?

 

I've never seen one of these, let alone used one, but I think it's what you're after - or at least, will narrow down your actual requirement

Not bloody cheap though, as far as I know.

 

EDIT: that isn't wireless though. Only wireless option I can think of is an iPad, I'm afraid - there was a program we found (can't recall it) that essentially presented the iPad's display as a webpage hosted by the iPad, so then you navigate to that IP:Port on the computer and you can see what the iPad sees. We never tested this in the end, as far as I'm aware, as a teacher was just asking if it was possible with her personal kit, but it might work for you. No idea if a similar app exists for Android.

We built a 19" rack on wheels in which we put a CD player, Mixer, PC (wireless network), fixed boom mic, two wireless receivers and a lockable draw. We then got our DT department to build a lovely lectern around it, and mount a monitor within it.

 

Users just need to plug a VGA cable, power and two xlrs into the lectern to get it going. They grab a key for the drawer from the office, which gives them access to the projector remote and the belt packs.

A member of the Science Department is playing with AppleTV with this in mind today however I am not involved. He seems to be happy to demonstrate it to staff after school today.

Could get a networked projector? We've done this (epson) and install a client onto a laptop when needed. We have also ran a VGA cable to the projector just in case, and haven't sorted the audio going through the projector, but I'm sure its possible and fairly easy.

Amazing possibilities.... It is a Windows 8 pc and when you detach the screen it turns into an Android Tablet that can control the PC....

To add, the computer is permanent so I wanted a wireless monitor viewer to view the computer. I have tried VNC which works fine when on a standalone laptop, something is blocking it on the RM network, possibly a port or exception needs to be added.

 

So for me, its going down the iPad route, we have them already and as this will be used scarcely I didnt really want to pay too much for it.
