kennysarmy Posted November 30, 2012 Posted November 30, 2012 I wanted to gather some information on which PC's have SIMS.net installed around the school in anticipation of replacing our sims server. I put this in the staff logon script: if exist "C:\Windows\sims.ini" mkdir \\servername\sharename\pcaudit\sims\%computername% if exist "C:\Windows\sims.ini" copy "C:\Windows\sims.ini" \\servername\sharename\pcaudit\sims\%computername%\sims.ini" if exist "C:\Program Files (x86)\SIMS\SIMS .net\connect.ini" copy "C:\Program Files (x86)\SIMS\SIMS .net\connect.ini" "\\servername\sharename\pcaudit\sims\%computername%\connect.ini" if exist "C:\Program Files\SIMS\SIMS .net\connect.ini" copy "C:\Program Files\SIMS\SIMS .net\connect.ini" "\\servername\sharename\pcaudit\sims\%computername%\connect.ini" I now have many subfolders under the \sims folder named as the various computers with sims on and in each folder are two files. Is there a non-manual way to compare these ini files ? Thanks.
Steve21 Posted December 18, 2012 Posted December 18, 2012 Depends what you actually want to compare. If it's just size vs size etc (which should show changes in settings, unless it's really small changes) you could just do a script to file compare. If it's line for line etc there are some programs that will do this like WinMerge Steve
