LukeC Posted July 3, 2007 Posted July 3, 2007 when setting up my wireless network at home. My laptop connects to the livebox but will not go on the internet. I am using a wired connection with my PC and using a 3com wireless device with my laptop. When i have connected the laptop wired to the livebox it works fine. Any1 got any suggestions
Scotmk Posted July 3, 2007 Posted July 3, 2007 Hmmm Where to start? does it have wep?, have you input the wep key on the laptop? are you using mac address security as well? have you input the mac address on the wireless router?
LukeC Posted July 3, 2007 Author Posted July 3, 2007 i have disable all security for the time being so i can jsut get it connected to the internet wer will i put the mac address on the router
Guest Posted July 3, 2007 Posted July 3, 2007 Are you pressing the button on the live box to pair the connection when trying to connect you laptop? Try removing all wireless networks from your laptop Press button one on the back of the live box now search for wireless networks and connect.
LukeC Posted July 3, 2007 Author Posted July 3, 2007 yes i hav put the livebox into pairing mode i can connect fine to the livebox but once connected to it i can not get on the internet
Domino Posted July 3, 2007 Posted July 3, 2007 had this before - the livebox wants you to use orange adapters. so makes it difficult otherwise. Go to the admin screen, and set up a forwarding rule for http traffic to go to the mac and ip addresses of your laptop. Ugly way round it but it works.
Domino Posted July 3, 2007 Posted July 3, 2007 yep, from your desktop (which is connected physically, yes?) open a web browser and got to http://192.168.1.1 which will open the admin screen. on the laptop, go to a command window (start-run-cmd) and type ipconfig /all this will list all your network adapters, find the wireless one and note the ip and MAC addresses (may say physical address) back in the admin screen, find where it says forwarding (or similar, i forget the actual wording) and fill in the boxes listed there with the information you've just obtained.
LukeC Posted July 3, 2007 Author Posted July 3, 2007 ok thanks ill give it ago when i get in from work
