Having some very frustrating problems trying to activate Cubase Elements 6 over the internet as it seems something somewhere in our filtered connection is blocking the access required for licensing.

We've contacted steinberg who beyond giving us the sites they say it looks for, wouldn't offer any further help.

We've added http://licensetransfer.elicenser.de, Syncrosoft, Home-elicenser.net, Home-elicenser.net etc to our allowed list, including the https variants and additional ones with the port on the end but nothing seems to be allowing it.

We know it has to be the inet as we can use a bluetooth dongle to activate via a mobile connection which works, but is very faffy and unreliable.

Just wondering if anyone else has had similar issues or could offer advice?

Is it actually talking to the proxy? Can you see traffic from client > cubase sites?

If you run wireshark (or tshark) on a spanned port / the proxy, what's the client device sending?

tcpdump on the proxy (requires linux or similar) with a filter would also let you see what's going on.

Say:

tcpdump -qi ethA host IP.AD.DRE.SS and port 443

Would scroll any traffic from IPADDRESS on port 443. Change or remove the port requirement to suit.

The proxy is LEA hosted (we have no control besides blocking/unblocking sites), but we decided to try and run it through our own one temporarily to see what sites it's accessing, ans it was the ones we expected which are already in the exception list. Doesn't really make any sense!
