Fibre gets installed 21st Jan....It is so exciting!

Had mine installed on 31st. I've gone from 4.5Mb/0.9 adsl to a massive 4.5Mb/0.6 on fttc.

It's not always very good :/

(I see you're probably made your mind up however here's my input)

There's a lot of hate for Sky broadband on the Internet but it's been excellent for me so far:

- Very easy setup and a painless switch over.

- Free Internet for 12 months (thank you very much!) and then £7.50 there on.

- Broadband speed has doubled from 6 down to 12 down / 1 up. Considering I live in the sticks this is rather pleasing.

- I've been downloading 200gb+ for the last few months (not sure how much others have been downloading but it'll be a lot as well) and no snotty emails / phone calls from Sky.

Worth doing especially as my Broadband costs have gone from £35 with Eclipse to £0 :D

With Sky now as well, Still got a few more days of the 'training period' with ref to broadband seeing as it is ADSL2+ afaik.

Getting between 12mbps to 16mbps at the minute but may go faster as the letter I got from sky quoted between 12 to 19.2mbps so will soon find out. Not had any problems like I did with VM ref to traffic management / proxy servers causing video buffering etc

So two thumbs up from me, oh and its saving me money, was paying about £60 a month, now paying about £50 per month ( obviously fluctuates depending on phone usage )

* Sky entertainment extra

* Weekend only phone

* Unlimited Broadband

Ours fluctuated loads for the first few days, now it sits around 30-35 down and 10 up.

Which Exchange does Irthlingborough use and can anyone tell me when BT Infinity will be installed or enabled at said exchange ?

Tried the BT Infinity phone number / address checker thing but it didn't give me any useful info

Irthlingborough uses Irthlingborough exchange :)

Was just asking as am sure sam knows stated it was either wellingborough or rushden and just wanted to confirm. Although maybe thinking of a google search that showed that and not sam knows.

Also thats only half an answer as asked when Fibre from BT would be available ( as think sky lease this from BT ) ? :p

Ah, theres no ETA on that at all. BT have no current plans to upgrade it. Best bet is to move to Rushden - literally one of the best connected towns in the entire country. That's my plan! (at least because Irthlingborough is an utter craphole primarily)

I wouldn't expect to see FTTC here for a good many years. For high speed it's virgin only unfortunately.
